"REAVERS" A fitting ED term?

what do you call players and NPCs who simply kill on sight. they aren't pirates. they aren't bounty hunters and there is no factionalism within the game mechanics which aside from conflict zones removes military and assassins. thats down to player choice (RP) and since frontier not only allow senseless killing but also added it into the game with murderous psychotic NPCs we can hardly use the term griefer. the game is designed to be dangerous hence the name.

Most call them psychos but i think a more fitting term is reavers!

(this is not a debate about what constitutes griefing, thats an entirely different kettle of fish and any attempt to do so will be ignored by me but il happily comment if you start a thread of your own)

I believe this is relevant.

Murderers.

Reavers is stolen from Firefly.

I agree. For my part it's an injustice to link the 2 references in any way. ED universe could not be much more farther removed from the firefly universe if it really tried.

Elite either needs its own term or just use murderer - plagiarism isn't polite.

(FWIW The Borg fit the description too but we could hardly call them that now can we ;))

I'm sure Joss Whedon would be more than happy to give his permission :D

There is a better word than psycho, griefer or the suggested 'reaver' but unfortunately the curse word filter will not let me post the correct term in the forums.

I'm not a native speaker so 'reaver' doesn't have any feeling for me. Except maybe an association with 'raver', which means 'outrageous partygoer' to me.
I call all aggressors pirates. It's easiest when explaining the game to friends as well.

Reavers doesn't really fit, if we leave the Firefly references aside - a reaver (or reiver) is firstly someone who takes (steals), second someone who follows a feud, but not someone who slaughters randomly.
Not nice, but not total psychos in the manner that a griefing player is.
