THIS IS NOT a "bash at players that choose pirating"..
Yet pirating is so over balanced... theres not 'real' risk from the game...maybe other players,BUT NOT the game..well theres the "..oh! a slapped wrist of a fine....boo hoo...." I just don't see the risk, or the disincentive for pirates.(from the game.)
For example, compared playing my dads old elite game called 'frontiers' the police would swarm over you if you accidently fired a shot near a station, or on a planet.
In space it was the same experience when I attacked a ship the police turned up, dam quick too,,, and not 1 or 2 but in a swarm and 'swamped' me with greater numbers and fire power...And pirating only happened in areas known as 'anarchy' and outer-areas 'less patrolled areas.... not in areas of high population.
.(if pirate want a fight ,this would be a great challenge to the big ridiculously over armed pirtes--imagine being jumped by 3,or 4 squadrons of police vipers --
.
.And the only answer from the clans is.......;don't play in open'...does not resolve anything, as is written in this thread. wont be long and the only thing left to pirate will be
other pirates... give it another year and you=pirates will be so bored you'll be exploring ...zzzzzzzZZZZ.....PING!..scanning ZZZZZZZZzzzzz because there'll be no challenge to a game that has given you a mega boss ship no NPC or player can have a hope in hell of running from or fighting.....doesn't mater because all traders, explorers, smugglers etc will be in solo.( Once bitten TWICE shy.)
So, the "play in solo" answer.. and "oh look another play whining about pirates".. is not a answer to the longevity of a possible great, game.
