Hardware & Technical Recommend some cheap speakers!

Recommend some cheap speakers! *NOW SOLVED!*

Building a system for my lad, so will need to get him some kind of audio output.

He's already got headphones, but I'm looking for good but fairly cheap 2.0 or 2.1 speaker system - £20-ish or under.

Currently looking at these:
Anybody recommend one over the others, or have any other suggestions?

I know neither are going to be exactly hi-fi and that's ok - just looking for decent audio on a budget.

Cheers!

UPDATE: 15/Dec/2013

Amazon have just dropped the price of the Logitech Z323 Speaker System to £24.99 delivered (down from £40!).

Have seen and heard these in the flesh, they are pretty good quality wise, sound is at least as good as a mini- hi-fi, and go fairly loud before distorting. At this price, a no-brainer really.

Thanks to all who chipped in with advice.

I had the LS21 speakers; my son has them now. They're not too bad. You can plug headphones in to the switch box.

I replaced them with theses...

...which are much better sound. The black, as linked, are £10 more expensive than the coloured versions for some reason. Press the two silver buttons on the right speaker to power down. Individually they are volume control. Maximum distance of left/right speaker from sub is about 40cm so you need the sub on your desk in front of monitor.

From your son's point of view, cheap 2.1 is likely to sound much better than cheap 2.0. Being on the receiving end of the bass, you might feel differently though.

I bought a lovely old Cambridge Audio amp for a tenner and a pair of big old pioneers speakers for 12 quid off Ebay, made sure they were close enough to collect in person and they kick the ass out of any of the little cheap plastic boxes you get for PCs.

I did pretty much the same, getting a pair of what were my hifi bookshelf speakers 20 years ago (yeah, I'm feeling my age) and using some old monoblock amps I had (the PC acts as DAC/preamp), and the results are great.

Speakers do get tired it's true, but rarely too badly, and PC speakers were specialised as it used to be that you needed magnetic shielding or they'd mess with your CRT if too close. But with LCD screens magnetic fields count for nothing, so any old speakers from a mini hifi and a cheap amp will blow away the plastic boxes, even if it's 10+ years old.
