This is a recommended settings for every situation.
Everything on default except:
Convert power to system, engine, weapons, reset
Shift-w a s d

Thrust up, down
Ctrl, space bar

Hyperspace jump (not fsd toggle)
R

Super cruise
F

Shield cell bank
C

Heat sink
V

Chaff launcher
B

A and D buttons switch with mouse X-axis

Set speed 50% (blue zone)
Mouse left thumb button

Srv reverse turret Y axis

Fighter dock
Left arrow button

Fighter aggressive
Up arrow button

Fighter attack target
Right arrow button

Fighter defensive
Down arrow button

Flight assist off
Mouse top thumb button

These controls are great for everything.

Unless you have a HOTAS.

It gets even better with voice-attack and a HCS voicepack, I really enjoy my conversations with Tom Baker Aka Midnight or as I like to refer to him “Doctor”

Nah. There's far too much keyboard stuff going on there. And I don't use fighters. I might multi-crew into someone else's, but I don't run them myself.

Distro pips: buttons 9, 10, 11, and 12 (SpaceExplorer)
Vertical thrust axis: Z axis (SpaceExplorer)
Lateral thrust axis: X axis (SpaceExplorer)
Fore/Aft thrust: Y axis (SpaceExplorer)
Hyperspace: Button 4 (SpaceExplorer)
Supercruise: Button 3 (SpaceExplorer)
SCB: Button 15 (SpaceExplorer) + Button 3 (T16000.M)
Heat sink: These aren't necessary.
Chaff: Button 3 (T16000.M)
Flight assist (toggle): Button 14 (SpaceExplorer)
Throttle (100%, 75%, 50%, 0%): Buttons 5, 6, 7, and 8 (SpaceExplorer)
