Hardware & Technical Recommended Tweaks for Windows 10 ??

From the manual. I think the option you need to set is Execute Disable Bit to Enable, which is the default setting anyway.

Done those, Thank you for your efforts. Sadly, still not accepting W10.

I've enclosed photos of the two pages: The first is from the main menu, the second, the sub menu you imaged. As you can see, my set up is a wee bit different.

In the sub menu, I've set CPU Internal Thermal Control to [Auto] from Disabled.

When I bought this computer, I was with a fellow who had a brain the size of a planet and knew computers better than people. I was intending to get into some serious overclocking. The heat-sink on my CPU was originally for another machine, but I canalized it for this one.

The CPU Temp currently sits around 40C and never goes much past 55C. The CPU fan has never, as far as I know, needed to go much past 55%. So the heat-sink has done a good job.

Sadly, my friend became seriously ill shortly after and will never recover. So I haven't gotten into playing about with any of those settings.

Anyway, I have never actually been in that sub menu. And as you know, I have only now, with your encouragement, updated the BIOS. Rather disppointed the most modern I could find came from 2009, but there you go.

It depends on how much time you have, and how much you really want to get Win10 on there, but you could try resetting the bios to defaults in case there is a separate setting that is required, but not obviously connected. You might want to make a note of all the settings in case you want to go back to how it was, and some settings may or may not need to be changed from defaults to keep it working too. So this isn't entirely without risk. Even try searching for your mobo model and Win10 and see if there are any other reports of problems with it.

Bios updates tend to be on an "as required" bases from the manufacturer. For an older product, I guess they don't have any more bug fixes or compatibility updates to apply so there is no need to produce more.

Thanks.

I reset to default before I updated the BIOS..

I'll follow your suggestion about reading up on the settings. Even if it doesn't produce any results, it will be interesting.

Regardless, if the CPU is capable of running W10 after tweaking, sooner or later, the solution will be found.

Had a look at some modern MBs for comparison. Some seem to be at 4.5Ghz and 6 cores. Non-Intel have reached higher of course. Pure interest of coruse, but never-the-less
