RECORD SHATTERING FSD JUMP 252.74 LY JUMP

I have been testing and testing ways to squeeze jump rang out of my anaconda for a future excursion to the core, so when we had the ability to get insane jump range on the elite dangerous beta server i began theory crafting a way to get insane jump distances, my anaconda is not done, nor is it where i want it, more work with engineers is required, but i will make further attempts to push the envelope ever further. Here's my latest test:

Congratulations on your achievement which I do not wish to undermine. However I feel that such distances should not be possible.

Now that it is possible to jump such distances the meaning of the phrase "long range" has changed. Now long range must mean Colonia. Sothis and such places are now just next door. The Galaxy just got smaller, at least for those have the time and desire to pursue the wizard quests. For those of us that don't.. well I for one feel oppressed by the challenge of keeping up. I can no longer climb into my Asp explorer knowing that it will out jump everyone else, or my cobra which could out run anything. The same will apply to other aspects.

Pre-Wizards, your ship choice and fitting was a strategic choice. You could ensure that you excelled in a particular area that suited your game play. Us time-poor commanders could put some effort into this and would confidently set off knowing our own advantages over others. All that is gone now.

I have a certain sympathy with the argument that you don't have to partake if you don't wish and I am currently playing in Solo because NPC's currently don't have engineered mods but I'm sure that will change. Also it dos not take a huge amount of imagination to see how the game design will alter to reflect these magic upgrades. The new short range missions (all non Colonia systems) will become less well paid. The harder missions will be designed with a modded ship in mind.

And when will it stop. Are the wizards suddenly going to pack up their magic chests or are they going to keep making up new spells until it is possible to jump across the whole galaxy in one jump? Destroy a station with one shot. Cruise along 10,000 m/s! "Don't be ridiculous" you say to me. "You're just being silly", "That'll never happen".

Well if I came in here last year and said "I reckon we will be able to jump to Sothis in one jump from the bubble" you'd have said the same things.

What do "Wizards" have to do with fuel scooping from a neutron star or a white dwarf?

Thanks for sharing I'd like to keep an eye on how this feature develops. Imho jumps in excess of 500ly are desirable and not to be feared as ruining the game so long as there is a good degree of skill, risk and effort in achieving such things.

I'd very much like to setup my Anaconda for exploring, any advice on this gratefully received I've already installed a lvl5 FSD range mod but mainly its picking the right balance of equipment to take.

Neutron jumping is not exactly handy for Sothis or bubble commuting. In fact it only really works if one is on the way to your destination.

Apologies everyone, I was on my mobile and couldn't watch the video. I was basing my comments on the OP which talks about engineering upgrades.

EDIT: Ok, obsolete now after your next reply, nevermind.:)

No probs!

Of course if we could carry a singularity around with us as a power source we could do this every where. What could go wrong?

Nice jump
But its still not enough to reach those curious collections of systems out on their own. Still not enough for realy deep edge exploration. Enough to get to a few systems in the roof for a nice view before self destruct I guess
We need to be able to use jumpjuice before the super charge for those 400-550ly jumps to interesting places

Neutron jumping is not exactly handy for Sothis or bubble commuting. In fact it only really works if one is on the way to your destination.

Even then it doesn't work.

The only scenario it works is if you are able to find two neutron stars and perform two neutron jumps in a row. Even then the time-savings is only about 2 jumps.

Right now, you'd have to catalouge, bookmark, and chain a lot of Neutron stars together to get any significant time-savings, and even then it's not really worth the risk of ship destruction.
