Record VR Gameplay for a 360 degree video

Hi,

I am wondering if anyone has a way to record VR gameplay to make a 360 degree video. Not to stream, not to youtube, not to make a 2d one eye video, but something that another person can watch and experience in full VR. I would love to share the full experience with other people. Is there a way to do this?

Hi

Soz for being pedantic but 360 isn't VR, it's 360. So it's like being in the middle of a hollow sphere, with a 2D video being projected and wrapped around the inner shell. You can't move around like you can in VR, you can only look around and watch.

I dont think there is a way to record 3D gameplay in Elite :(

If you do want 3D movie you can walk through, you might want to consider the free Quill software on the Oculus platform. That allows you to make animations.

I think Google's Tilt Brush has some form of animation but I might be wrong there.

Actually thanks for the correction. What I want is really for a non-player to see what this game is like in VR, which should really be proper VR with viewer choice of perspective not 360 but I think that's a much more difficult ask. Anyway from what I've seen neither appear to be easily doable. Pity, I think this would be a major selling point for anyone with a VR rig. This game is unbelievable in VR.

Would you be present when they see this?

I have 3 accounts. Yeah, I know :/

I also have a second cheap PC that can still run Elite.
I get my guest to run my main account on the VR rig with me in the alt.
I then invite them to multi crew.

I find the Asp is great for this as they have the seat below. It's a great view!
