Horizons recover xxx from such and such system will always wind up in needing an srv?

i took a mission the other day to a system to recover 1t of experimental chemicals. it suggested i scan nav beacon in the system for information which gave me an update message and updated the transaction database with a planet. i had to abandon the mission. the description never mentioned it would be a landing on planet mission when i took it. so my question is, do these recover missions ALWAYS end up with a planet targetted when you scan nav beacon, and do you then have to land on them and have an srv?

if the answer is yes then these missions need to be clearly marked as surface missions. i do have horizons but i DONT have space or resources to fit a hangar. it would compromise my ship build too much also. i would like to avoid missions that need an srv and its hard to do if you dont know they will result in needing one. maybe if it had the horizons symbol + a dune buggy icon i would know.

If the mission is marked with the surface icon you need to go to the surface. They will also specifically mention you MUST have an SRV. If that is not mentioned you only need to get close to the planet mentioned, you'll find a mission USS there with the stuff you need. Its the difference between being on the planet and near it. :)

ah ok thanks. i abandoned for nothing. i just seen a salvage contract with a nightside planet and cargo thing with a line to the planet so that must be the icon for those. i went into every uss i could see in the mission. no wonder they gave 4 days for it - thats about how long it seemed to have lasted.

The USS you need is now actually labelled 'Mission USS' or something, in a special color. Also, in the top right 'log' of the HUD it'll mention when the Mission USS is detected. Basically I just fly around the planet a bit for a minute or two and it pops up. Same for assassinations and such that give you a 'planet' location.
