One of the YouTubers I watch (BestinSlot) is under the impression that using recycling bins helps to generate CC. Now I'm curious- is that true? Because otherwise I have no idea what the difference between the recycling bins and the trash bins is.

In career mode I had noticed that too. I think in scenario 5 I wondered where the CC encores came from. And then I came up with the idea that it could be due to the recycling bins. But I didn't pursue the matter any further. But if BestinSlot also says this, there's probably something to it. I really appreciate this Youtuber.
Just the recycling bins or any other bins as well? If I remember it correctly, someone asked on a stream with some of the Planet Zoo team if there is any difference between these bins and she answered there is no difference. It could of course be possible that the person who answered the question isn't aware of this, so in the end it might as well be!
I had them in my Zoo in the past. They don't seem to do anything special (or maybe they create CC. The Guests love it to throw the Trash on the Ground even tough there are 50 Trash Cans next to them)

I don't use recycling bins in my zoo(challenge mode) and i also get cc whilst the time passes. This is a feature of challenge mode, it has nothing to do with the recycling bins.
If recycle bins yielding CC's were a thing one would think the researched theme sets would also include recycle bins but they don't appear to...
