I'm wondering if it's intended that red deer don't allow for guests to walk through their habitats, while the European fallow does- yet they enrich each other, so I take it the devs want us to have them co-exist? I understand the mentality of the red deer is more reserved against humans so maybe it's intended, but maybe this not the case? Just wondering what y'all thoughts are on this.

It's just options. You can have the fallow deer as a walkthrough, or a mixed exhibit, or neither- just not both, ideally.
I guess so, I just dislike having to sacrifice a nice welfare bonus
There are other species combos that have the same thing going on, one allowing walkthrough, and the other not. It's not unique to the red deer and fallow.

Yeah, for instance the gazelle and springbok are walkthrough, but most of all the other African savannah animals they get enrichment from are not. The giant anteater is walkthrough, but the baird's tapir is not. The pronghorn antelope is walkthrough, but the bison is not. Etcetera

I haven’t made a walkthrough for anteaters as I usually keep them with tapirs and they both can get stressed easily
I never knew pronghorns can be walkthrough, then again I imagine they stay the heck away from people as much as they can. Now I do think bison should be walkthroughs, after all in Yosemite and Yellowstone, they have a special bond with people, they give them the ability to fly!
