Red fox as a possible bonus animal?

Though foxes aren't neither endangered nor a typical zoo animal it would be really cool to have these iconic animals in the game at some point, especially as your fur details game is just getting better by every pack! :D

I think it might have been better if they included a red fox, instead of the Polar fox in the NA pack. Specially as I can't think of a badger without thinking on a red fox. On the other hand, I think we already have a lot of canines in the game, so I hope the red one wouldn't occupy a spot in a future DLC. Probably the best way would indeed be adding it in a free update.

Canines are popular and canines sell, so I really doubt we'll be seeing the end of them in DLC as long as there's more to go around. The red fox is one of my most wanted animals, but I admit I'm getting increasingly worried about their avenues for inclusion. I guess we really don't have much idea what to expect from the next 4 packs, but if it continues to be roughly continent/region-based I don't think there's a place for them (a broader Asia pack could work, but I don't see them fitting in here). I think a temperate pack is really their best bet.

I do think the arctic fox was a worse choice than the red fox would've been. I can't help but feel like Frontier took the all of the "we should have gotten the arctic fox over the arctic wolf" comments as people still actively wanting the arctic fox instead of people thinking the arctic wolf was a somewhat disappointing choice (note the arctic fox's relatively low placing in the meta wishlist, particularly compared to the red fox). I mean, maybe I'm off base here, but it sure seems that way to me.

I definitely need the Red Fox in the Game. My Japanese Zoo and my Wildparks just don't feel complete without it. It would probably be relatively easy to make it out of the Arctic Fox (of course the Model would need to be changed but I think the Animations could probably stay the same).

Russia Pack:
  • Red Fox
  • Tanuki
  • Amur Leopard
  • Muskox
  • Russian Desman if we'll get Exhibit Mammals at some Point (and if it is even kept in any Zoos at all) or maybe some Species of Lemming, if not maybe the Caucasian Toad

It could also fit into a Japan Pack which would be really nice to have

I think this would really be the best Option, especially because it could give us so many other requested Animals from Europe, North America, Asia and even Oceania like the Wild Boar, the Tanuki, the Raccoon, the Turkey, a small climbing Mustelid, a Species of Kiwi (there are more than I've expected) (not sure if they even live in temperate Forests but I think so), a Species of Otter

IMO I’ll take red fox any day. In fact I’ll take more canines any day as I personally love canines. We have plenty of felines but I still support getting more felines as long as they are different types of felines. Plus I have a zoo dedicated to felines and i plan on getting a canine zoo set up at some point.
Before we get red foxes in a dlc I’d prefer to get manned wolves and a type of jackal.

I think we've had enough DLC canines. The surprise arctic fox in North America might have closed the door on this.
I disagree. I don’t think you can ever say we have had enough of any particular animal family.

If you build a random zoo (and there’s nothing wrong with that) with a random mix of animals where you’re happy to tick off having “a canine” or “a bear” then that’s fine. But my new zoo, for example, has no place for a fennec fox or a dingo. It’s a specific kind of zoo in a specific location. And I would like to have a red fox as well as the Arctic fox and maybe wolf and dhole.

Also take otters for another example. Not all zoos have giant otters. Far more have Asian small-clawed otters. Then others have North American river otters. European wildpark style zoos would have Eurasian otters (possibly others too). And yet for some people one or two species would be fine.

Some people even said we don’t need a cassowary and that an emu would be unnecessary as the ostrich ticks off the big bird requirement, something I find baffling.

I appreciate that we won’t have unlimited DLCs and that every slot is precious. But on the other hand, many of us have specific wishes for specific zoos and quotas like this would shut down their options.

There are still so many Possibilities left besides the Red Fox. For Example Tanuki, Maned Wolf, Bush Dog, a Species of Jackal, maybe the Coyote
And there are hundreds of bird possibilities even without aviaries, yet there are only half a dozen represented in PZ. Ultimately it's a competition for a limited number of slots, and I think PZ should prioritize birds plus some of the most popular wishlist animals (especially the ones that don't already have close equivalents in PZ, like the Tasmanian devil or crested porcupine).

Maned wolf is number five on the meta wishlist and doesn’t have a close equivalent despite being a canine.

I think we got the arctic fox over the red fox because when the Arctic DLC came out, people were moaning about the arctic wolf and said they had wanted an arctic fox instead. So Frontier decided to throw it in the NA DLC to make up for it.

I would've also been ok with the Grey Fox in the North America Pack (they look really nice and can even climb on Trees) if we'd still get the Red Fox at a later Point. Wasn't able to use the Arctic Fox yet but I assume it will feel weird without the Fur changing its Color (but understandable due to Seasons sadly not being implemented)

I would love a red fox in any guise it comes in, and I've certainly not had enough canines; I want all of them.

And although I was surprised by the arctic fox, it was a happy surprise; they're one of my favourite animals to have in the game and definitely the most adorable.
