This probably isn't possible, but I've been thinking about this all morning, so I figured I'd throw it out here too. I hope it's appropriate for the forum, it got flagged as off-topic on Reddit 
but I totally think it's applicable.

It's old but it only popped up in my news feed this morning. Given that it is old I thought it'd be cool to go check out KIC 9832227 in-game. But I won't be back online for quite a while yet, so threw this out there: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDange...ne_been_to_kic_9832227_going_to_plot_a_route/ which you may or may not be able to see, since it's the thing that got flagged by the Reddit mods. Anyway, one helpful Commander did some research for me and it seems the star (a contact-binary, actually) isn't in GalMap, so it isn't visitable.
I was a little disappointed by that, but now I'm thinking that it's actually perfectly in-theme, because the nova should've occurred 1282 years prior to the current game time. But now I'm also thinking wouldn't it be cool if there were an in-game remnant we could visit from this event? A KIC 9832227 Red Nebula, maybe?
Anyone else think this'd be cool to see show up? Given that in about four years this event will probably be up in your local skies almost as bright as Sirius or Vega?
