Reduce the number of clicks to change modules in outfitting.

Currently change a module in outfitting it requires 6 clicks, 3 of which are labelled transfer, plus on transfer to ship. Surely we don't need so many confirmations?
Once in Transfer from storage section, clicking on the required module should just transfer it.

I also support it, but I do understand there are people who accidently sell their ships, so I expect opposition to the suggestion. For some people the more confirmation boxes the better, maybe have an option to add an extra confirmation box to all dialogs if this is done, you know satisfy as many people as possible :D

I’d like to see the entire system revamped to be much more like the online store. No credits or modules change ‘hands’ until the end following a review and confirmation. Otherwise, you can virtually swap modules around as desired freely (with a reset to current installed module for each and a reset to installed for the whole ship)

Player ques up all the desired and available changes, reviews the performance changes and cost, adjusts if required or desired, THEN confirms and pays for the change.

One simply does not go to a mechanic and go through the insanity we have currently:
Oil filter? which one? are you sure? installed
Oil? how much? are you sure? installed
Wiper blades? which one? what size? are you sure? installed
Tires? which one? what size? what grade? are you sure? installed
etc
etc

Should be able to cue up all purchases, then review and confirm to have the techs work on them all.

As a side note, outfitting really desperately needs a way to zoom and pan the camera view. Outide VR, some ships are impossible to tell where a module or kit is installed with the fixed (and sometimes broken) camera views. In VR is nominally better being able to look around to judge where on the ship the item is located.

Stongly agree. I'd also like to be able to swap in modules from other ships at the same dock without having to change to that ship.

What would be nice is to create custom loadouts. Idk about everyone else but for most things i use the same ship and just adjust what im carrying. Why not be able to land and select a new loadout and it shifts everything to your new setup with one click. Firegroups and everything!!!

yeah,
three things i hate about the outfitting:

1. squeezing everything into a list form makes it not very good on the eyes
2. detail camera - may be fine the first time, but if you play ED longer then a week you start to hate it
3. animations... same as 2.

more then 20 years "drag&drop" being the defacto default user interface in the real world, i wonder why that didn't make it into the game....

I won't hear much of a bad word said about the current Fitting Screen UI. Compared to what it used to be, it's a thing of untrammelled joy, I love it dearly.

That said, there are some curious choices in there. Such as when I'm buying modules via the non-mouse UI and every option-set defaults to "back", rather than just the final confirmation (the only place where that's really needed), making module purchases noticeably slower than necessary. Or why the Transfer options have to have their own miniature drop-down sub-menu, rather than just appearing normally in the list.

As I said, I'm happy with things now - but if the UI team do want to look at some of those choices again, to make it all work a little bit better, I certainly won't complain. :)

+1. Another thing that I'd like is if you set up your ship then pressed confirm & then it ran all the changing animations in one go rather than every time you changed a hardpoint etc. It could work by separating the 'shop' from stored modules so you'd have a list of your stored modules and just be able to drag/select & drop them into a slot to swap or fill.

Outfitting is pretty inefficient, though it'd be good to maintain the graphical outfitting we have when purchasing modules and the like.

IMO the "store multiple modules" section should allow players to also move modules from storage to ship. This takes nothing away from the current main outfitting interface, but allows players to move modules from and to ship from the same window if they already have the modules and are basically "module juggling".

An excellent idea, I like it.

Agreed. Especially with the queueing suggestion and the drag and drop proposal. AND the swap modules from ship to ship without having to change ships.

Well, okay, basically I agree with all the suggestions.

get rid of that god awful animation every-time you change utility and / or hardpoint while they're at it, 6 clicks and a 5 second coma inducing animation scene while the weapon deploys / retracts

outfitting in ED is much like teletext... Crap

should i say - im not on VR.

i dont need 1cm high letters on my 21" screen on the outfitting screen

lets trade: half the letter size, and give you the scroll bar on the attribute list ;)
