Typical multi cannons are substantially cheaper to synthesize than missiles. When it comes to the Advanced variants, they attempted to perpetuate this, with around triple the cost of standard materials for missile synthesis.
Unfortunately, they failed to account for the guardian materials, where the two have the same cost. Both of them cost one Guardian technology component, which is the most important part. These are very irritating to collect, since you can usually only get one or two per re-log. Because of this, and because missiles are broadly Superior to multi cannons in just about every way, it makes very little sense to ever synthesize Advanced ax multi-cannon ammo.
It would be very nice if they would remove the Guardian technology component from the ax multi Cannon synthesis cost. This would make it much easier to synthesize the ammo for ax multi cannons, which would then be an excellent option for killing Scouts to save on Gauss ammo, or in tandem with multicrew, where the pilot might control the advanced multi cannons, while leaving the turreted ax multi cannons to the gunner.
This would create a niche for the use of advanced multi cannons, which currently are never worth it.
Just imagine having a krait with three turreted ax multi cannons, controlled by a gunner, two fixed Advanced multi cannons, controlled by the pilot, and 2ax taipans, controlled by multicrew? To me, that sounds pretty awesome. No alien can resist the sheer power of DAKKA!
