Hi all,
Was wondering if anybody can answer a question that has been bugging me for ages.
Does anybody know if there will be a new generation console version of elite being released.
This would be a great addiction to this new game having this on new generation consoles and online just would make the whole thing just epic.
Not to mention it would introduce younger players on other systems such as ps4 etc to the joys of elite not to mention the fact not everyone has a pc and in this day and age progression is the key forward and consoles are a big part in gaming now whether we like them or not.

No announcments have been made on console versions of the game to date.

It will be released on PC first with a mac version following.

Thank's for the reply this will be a massive shame if this great game is not released on new generation consoles.
In this day and age and how consoles have advanced they would be able to deal with running this game not to mention how many new players would be introduced to elite i first got inducted to this game on my old rubber keyed 48k spectrum.
Now both my sons have XBOX360 and PS3 if this was released on new generation consoles the amount of new players and revenue this would generate would be massive.
I for one as a parent would buy a couple of copies so i could beat my lads as constantly they beat me on FIFA etc and i think the scope for both new generation consoles would be massive just look how well BF3 has done expansion packs etc.
The scope for sales would be on console massive and is now more open than ever this would work imagine this online console wise this would benefit elite and give the youth of today a introduction to ELITE.

Porting to the next gen consoles certainly hasn't been ruled out. The Cobra engine that Frontier has built is designed to allow porting so I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a version of ED on the next gen consoles at some point in the future. Remember that FD have released and are going to release a lot of console games so it's a market they are well aware of.

Agree, FD has developped many games for xbox and xbox 360. But the initial release is for PC then Mac and perhaps Linux and next gen console.

David recently said something along the lines of - "it would be a great shame not to take advantage of the capabilities of these new platforms..." or something similar.

Read into that what you will, but I think it will happen

With Zoo Tycoon coming out for XBox One, I would fully expect E: D to be able to be ported across.

It has been stated that the game is scalable and not all gaming PCs out there are more capable than XBox One / PS4.

Thank's for all the positive feedback i hope so as this will take ELITE to another level and give younger people that prefer consoles the chance to experience this classic game.
Let's hope that they see the potential of next gen consoles i will be watching in anticipation of when this happens.
