Regarding binary stars.

So the two perfect star spheres in i Bootis orbiting each other.

Shouldn't it look more like this?

No, i bootis c/d is much less pronounced in real life than that picture (its a shallow contact binary). It would look somewhat like this.

Of course, other contact binaries DO look like the picture you posted. Now regarding the game, the effect is not shown at all and its confirmed as WIP by FDEV. Apparently David Braben himself is a big fan of contact binaries, so expect their look to change as we move forward..C:

I love how David Braben doesn't ignore this kind of stuff like other developers do so easily.

Tell me about it. I Came across a white dwarf yesterday and my jaw just dropped. It was incredibly bright. I think it's fascinating how these guys pay so much attention to detail.

im in i bootis right now and i dont see any binary stars what do i wrong?^^

You are probably still at I Bootis A (which is where your jump gets you out of hyperspace).
The contact binaries are I Bootis B/C which require a travel of a few k ls

Attention to detail goes a long way with me. I bought Darkstar One a while back and in one system I saw a comet off in the distance. Well, I decided to take a closer look (the game description said a player could explore) and, indeed, it was actually there, something approachable. But, when I got to it, guess what happened! It disappeared! That's right. Also, suns would shine through planets, ruining the experience of seeing the dark side of any planet, and it took forever to travel from planet to planet with no reward system in place for exploration. The combat was fun, and story wasn't too bad. But attention to detail? Nah. Even Starflight on Sega Genesis paid more attention to detail than Darkstar One.

...Any word on when/if contact binaries will actually be in the game?
