Regarding the 100k+ hunting missions from bulletin boards

Like probably most new players, I tried one of these out back when the game launched on the 16th. And I found the guy and, yeah, one purple ball to the face later I didn't even get to scan his ship. That was back when I was in my stock Sidewinder and didn't know any better.

So I'm guessing these guys are always in an Anaconda and probably tough - I think that purple thing was a plasma accelerator?

My question is how tough should be I be before I think about even bothering trying these hunt missions again. I'm now in a Viper.

Yes, they're always in Anacondas, they're always Elite. Viper is good enough to kill them if you have some proper modules and go about it the right way.

Shield cells and Multi-Cannons currently make those fights quite easy, probably going to be nerfed soon, I'd wager.

Last I tried, these missions were bugged. The NPC was in an orca instead of an anaconda, and killing them did not complete the mission. I had to fail the mission and take the rep hit.

A Viper with a few shield cell batteries and some multicannons can wreck anacondas as fast as it can find them. Just target their powerplant subsystem and do your best to stay behind them. They're actually pretty easy to kill. A Cobra can do it too.

They're not always Anacondas. I've seen Pythons and Orcas. I think I've seen people say the target was a Cobra one time, even.

Thats fixed. There's variations. A anti-Fed one (target's a clean Federal Dropship), an anti-Empire one (target's a clean Imperial Clipper), and the Anaconda.

No, faster. Finding them is a real pain, aimlessly poking around for random luck with USS to tell us where to go.

I suggest Max Shield and Shield Cell Banks to recharge the shields when they get depleted. Throw in a few lasers and target the powerplant or drives to disable/slow down the ship and the rest should be easy.

My signature has some tips on the ladouts that you may find useful. Be careful of the plasma accelerator, as it can one-shot you even in medium ships when low on shields. The good news is that it only shoots forward, so hopefully you won't get into that situation.

Shield cells also don't need to be nerfed. They aren't even remotely overpowered.

I have a highly upgraded Cobra, 2xBeam Laser 2x Multicannon. I never quite defeated the anacondas. One of the missions was bugged. I shot at a wanted ELite Anaconda and I got a 400c bounty as well as the Wanted status. Hope they fix that soon.
