Regarding the T8 + SRV "issue"

I watched this video and laughed because the situation was incongruous.
Then I thought the issue could be solved with a little more work on the Type 8 and a classy addition. A japanese meme : Sidewinder ga gotoku, or Like a sidewinder if you prefer :)
When a Type 8 lands on raw land (settlements, planets, moons) , it rises up with a pqssssshhhhhhhhhhhh and a big clonk, just to make it high enough but too large to fit in "M".
It's also possible to do the opposite, T8 becomes higher and bends down when landing in stations, outposts ...

The SRV and a 1" high rock messing up driving out from under the ship has always existed on many other ships. Deploy SRV and dismiss ship is one workaround

Ehhh, if you're gonna do that just make the SRV(s) a proper lowrider. Those wheelframes look like they could bend or spread to lower the vehicle. Solve it for all ships in one go. 🤷‍♂️

That's not a workaround for the T8. It's still too low after being recalled, so no way to board with the SRV.

I mean i have had this problem countless times with various ships.
Is it the issue with T8 so much worse than with other ships? I remember i had to dismiss my T9 several times when i was landing on planets to collect "stuff"

Sure, they were pushing the envelope with the T8 - the biggest medium ship...
Requiring a really flat terrain to deploy the SRV is a really small price to pay for the way T8 puts the Python, T7 and the Clipper to the deepest shame levels.

So i really hope they dont "fix" it since it almost look like a feature not a bug

Moving the lower hardpoint to the front of the ship would help a lot. After deploying it's right in front of you, and if the ground isn't perfect it blocks you.

Other side of the SRV bay would help, but then we couldn't reverse out.

I had this problem on other ships too so it is not Type-8 exclusive feature. Solution to this is really simple: Airdrop (or vacuum drop) capability from low altitude. It can be additional functionality for advanced docking computer module.

Auto-landing does prioritise "horizontal terrain" over "flat terrain", which doesn't help. I noticed that when I tried to recall a Courier on a flat and smooth, but slightly sloping, plain (very shallow crater floor IIRC) with scattered piles of rock. It kept landing and perching on the rock piles, ignoring the surrounding plain, and I couldn't get the SRV under it. Eventually gave up, boarded on foot, and abandoned the SRV.

Wouldn't it be great if you could pick up the SRV after. Or have your NPC do it, while you're in it. Give those loafers something more to do.

Alternatively, recalling your ship doesn’t require the ship to land - it hovers over your SRV and grapples it with a line hauling it into the bay.

I've done that a couple of times in particularly mountainous terrain. The ship will hover with the bay open though trying to figure out where to position the SRV to board is a pixel hunt.

An issue report has been submitted for the problem - I’ll be adding my confirmations to it even though I’m mostly successful with the work-around of reversing away from the SRV bay upon deployment.

I am of the strong opinion that Fdev should embrace this and just add it to the in-game lore. Have Lakon publish an official statement about it, explaining why they designed the ship as they did, even knowing the problems with SRV deployment, and how they are looking for possible solutions.

I actually told Paul (when they said they will be looking into it) to leave it as is, since T-8 being the largest medium ship should have some drawbacks
