Registrering ship names

I would like to be able to register my ship names with FD as i have with my CMDR name
so it would be personal unique and permanent
same with IDs as i can imagine a lot players would like to have something unique of there own that can't be copied
at the moment there's only your CMDR name that sets you apart from other players
so what do you think Yes or No

That isn't going to happen.

Commander names are your account name. Ship names are cosmetic only.

Since players can have dozens of ships, registering unique names for ships in the game means that eventually there will be ships named things like ASLKJDOINT, or Bunnyhopper24648212, because there will come a point where new ship names conflict with the registered names.

I have no problem with several ships around the galaxy sharing the same name.

What Jessie said is true. Just look at any MMO and the names people have to come up with. It would be ridiculous.

I'd also see too many issues. People buy Name Plates and then get told "Sorry, but that Ship name is already in use - please choose another" 10x in a row.

Plus, I kinda like the flexibility, in case a Name I picked on 1st try doesn't "stick" well and I want to reconsider.
