Regor Sector Permit Locks: What's happening out here?

I've just been having a bit of an Ancient Ruins holiday.

Regor Sector is right next door to a whole mess of Ancient Ruins sites. I wonder if we can expect some Guardian, Thargoid or other xeno-action from hereabouts.

A few examples:

lots of places permit locked. polaris was last i looked. what we can infer from this is... FD have future plans for the locked places.

There's a whole volume of space (a Col Sector) around Orion locked and has been that way forever... enough systems for a mini-Bubble. I tried to go "cross-country" from Orion to the Pleiades once and got bottle-necked around there. I had to back-track to get clear of them.

"Regor" is the NASA in-house nickname for the star Gamma Velorum (it was used as a navigational calibration star during the Apollo era). Gamma Velorum is an unstable star at the heart of the Regor Sector; it's destruction by supernova is astronomically imminent. So it has been speculated that the Regor Sector is off-limits to protect innocent travellers and sightseers from being vaporized by a supernova shockwave.

It makes me laugh that FD did that tbh. It's not like FD to give anything away by spoon feeding us too soon now, is it? /sarcasm :D I mean, where else could they (or other content) be hiding (apart from the other side of the galaxy of course). :)

Yeah; I'm aware of other regions that are permit locked but this one being so close to Ancient Ruins sites throws a bit of mystery into the works.

It's supposed to be a mystery. That's why it's locked. Otherwise, no one would ask about it. [alien]

Yup, that's COL 70 SECTOR and been discussed many times (including myself). I don't want to speculate on any conspiracies going on there, but I suspect there's something going on there that needs to be investigated on day.

Thanks for that info. I wasn't aware of the astronomical implications in that volume of space. o7!

And seeing the 84' Elite had a secret mission to escape a star exploding in a supernova perhaps Frontier has decided to revisit this on a much bigger scale down the road. :)
