Regretting your choices...

You ever had that feeling where you decide to do something then, way before you're even half way through you regret having ever made that choice?

Yea. Me too. And it hit me aproximately 120 jumps into a 1300-1400+ jump round trip to escort a trio of explorers to distant places, with the overwhelming knowledge that the exploration data alone is likely to be worth several tens, if not hundred, of times more credits than the missions themself. Said data is about the only thing keeping me going presently, as I like exploration, I only potentially wish I was in a craft more suited for said function, and quite preferably with a higher jump range to reduce the previously mentioned oversized round trip somewhat. I will probably jump for joy when this section of the trip is sub-100. Though even then after reaching the final destination I'll likely hever around 500 - 600+ jumps left to reach the origin system of the missions for hand-in.

'Explorers Jump' - a bit like Tennis Elbow or Repetitive Strain Injury, the point in your journey where you wish you hadnt started. Push through and its fun again.

Do CQC or Multi Crew or an alt even for a break and change of pace....Or eject them into a neutron cone and run for home :)

If I could afford an alt account I just might, I got 3 weeks on the mission anyway. But I'm not particularly interested in playing with gen pop, sure there's a lotta great peoples there, but unless I'm starting an MMORPG, I don't play with people I don't know.
And yea, with a little approximate math, I'm only getting 46.5 mil from the actual missions. And I dare say my discovery data is already with a few times that. Just wish I could see it's value before reaching a station.

If you are on PC EDDiscovery will interface nicely with EDSM - which will give you a running total of the value of your 'exploration' and will also point you at which bodies are worth mapping (credit wise) in your current system.

I don't know if console users can also link to EDSM, sorry.

Where is the end-point of your journey?
I'm sure that a friendly FC owner (possibly even me) could park at your final destination and jump you back to your drop-off point.
End point is FLYUA EAEC CG-F D11-10 still 11,806.6LY from my current location. 😁 And hand-in is in CEOS So it's quite a journey, and probably a fairly high tritum consumption.

Can't seem to find a panel that will tell me the value of the data of my current scans. Only the estimated value of the recent systems, which I'd have to value up myself, which, considering I am 149 jumps in, I aint doing. :ROFLMAO:

That said, it'll still take me a day or three to get there, so Ill let ya know when I'm closer whether I'm up for doing the return journey or would like a pickup. :)

Im probably in the minority, but i can't bear to travel. Its very primitive and something from the dark ages. Even the memory of rapid jumping makes me uncomfortable.

Carrier travelling + local jumping only for the win. I probably would have made it more than one jump away if the bubble didn't keep calling me back.. and if my little spot would ever run out. Hmmm.

Stats panel!
Hahaha, thanks. I bloody looked at that too. Going blind. Now to figure out how to get the route planner to jump me to somewhere other than "WAYPOINT" between here and my destination, maybe some actual stars perhaps. Apparently rerunning it many times does the trick sort of. "WAYPOINT" keeps showing up, so that's definitely not gonna help me, which is a pity, since this is suggesting it can cut out over 100 jumps on the route panned by ED.

Also, since this only gives a fairly broad idea of my scan value, is "Last Dock" what I've gained since my last dock, or is that how much I gained up to my last dock and thus need to subtract it from the "All" to get current estimate?
Never mind, I watched it as I got more data, Last dock is my stats since last dock. Would be nice if it was more specific though.

Scan data is worth significantly less than I imagined it being worth up to this point, though I got 1 system that's apparently worth 1.2mil on it's own, so maybe will get a few more good ones on the way.
