Reinstalling Elite Dagerous

Hi,

I'm trying to install elite dangerous odessy after getting a new pc, however when i try to set the install directory it only shows my desktop as an option, i installed the launcher onto one of my new m.2s so it wouldnt be on the C: drive.

No matter which version i choose it gives the same install options.. does anyone have any idea's why it would do this?

Are you using steam, Epic or Fronteir's own launcher?
Epic asks for an install location.
Steam is slightly different - From the menu - View - Settings - Storage Manager - new locations my be added by clicking "+"
Frontier - is selectable but is like an old windows installer and the new location needs to be typed inot the "install location" box. (it has been a while, so forgive the vagueness)

hey sorry, im using the Frontier launcher

this is all i see, i cant type or select anything other than desktop hence the confusion

Ah!

If you add the "This PC" icon - or even a shortcut to the drive you wish to use - to your desktop, you will be able to select it, then create a folder to install into.

Windows doesn't make some things obvious...

I hope this - very short - suggestion helps you get ED where you want it, good luck!

thanks for the suggestion but that doesnt work either.. it only wants to see folders so doesnt see any links etc.. honestly this is such a pain in the butt lol

Where did the launcher install itself?

You should be able to simply move the folder containing the launcher executable (and all sub-folders), normally named "EDLaunch" to another drive and the game will be installed to a "Products" sub-folder in the folder where the launcher executable is.

Ah so it will install where the launcher is but i cant move it anymore if i wanted for whatever reason on a different drive (space etc) as the launcher doesnt let you set anything other than the desktop (pretty sure it did before this latest update). Looks like just clicking install is putting it where i installed the launcher so that will work for now.
