Newcomer / Intro Reintroduced into the wild

Hey, folks.

I played Elite: Dangerous through some of 2018 and 2019 back when I still had my PS4, but ended up quitting before the Distant Worlds 2 expedition that I'd wanted to go on due to a little chaos with housing and then some lack of motivation to return.

Well, once I saw the teaser trailer for Odyssey coming out, I ended up hopping back on through PC. I've been getting reacquainted with things and learning about the features that weren't present when I last played, such as the Full Spectrum Scanner and various mining methods.

Within days, I was reminded why I loved this game so much when I played previously. This game is beautiful and the diversity of playing options is lovely. My favorite thing in general is trying out strange builds or tactics in any game that provides the customization, but Elite: Dangerous has a depth to the system that I highly appreciate.

That said, I've even picked up a Hotas in recent weeks and started trying out CQC and the like while being "voluntarily forced" to learn how to maneuver better against more skilled pilots. I saw a lot of the people I've faced in CQC on this forum just the other night and it surprised me that they were present and engaging in this community.

It's actually why I decided to create an introduction post. I've never been active in this community on a social level in the past, but I have an interest in staying connected and continuing to better myself as a Commander.

As frustrating as CQC might be, I respect most of the people I've faced and appreciate the skills I've learned to be more effective. The most frustrating thing is less about the opponents and more about how slow it feels to put together quality ships that are fulfilling to battle with. When I first started, I didn't really accomplish much until that Eagle MkII unlock.

I also just reset my save the other day, so I started back at square one, but it was a bit easier this time around as I understood the flight mechanics a little bit better.

Anyway, I'm Luca and go by Commander FaeKing and I look forward to learning what I can from all of you. o7
