Release 1.2. is great!

Even though nobody seems to be interested in anything but the new ships' prices, I think "Wings" is great!

  • the group mechanic works like a charm
  • much improved AI, finally posing a challenge
  • ability to repair broken modules via system reboot (in addition to being useful it looks really cool!)
  • much reduced hull repair costs
  • reduced fines for smuggling
  • distance between stations and star in system map
  • remaining jumps of route displayed in navigation menu

And that's just the tip of the iceberg!

So, keep complaining about the ship prices, everyone, and continue to overlook the important game play improvements that have been made, I am off enjoying Wings :p

All of those things don't really matter if we can't enjoy them in a ship we enjoy, no?

If sitting in a new ship counts more than actually engaging and entertaining game mechanics, than yes, you are right. But honestly, if that is how most players feel, it'd be a pretty sad sentiment.

"The important gamplay improvements" ... if you look closely to "improvements", then you will notice, it is spelled terribly wrong.

My initial impressions are very good. Got interdicted by a wing of npcs on my first regular trade run in 1.2 (3 easy kills, but fun nonetheless). Feels like it's running smoother for me, not really sure how, I think a few glitches that were beginning to annoy me have gone. Not tried wings yet or the debug camera. Nice to see the Spend on ships total displaying in the statistics now, assassinations still bugged at 0 though.

It's nice to see something positive :)

I guess it's easy to forget that there is a lot more behind this update than just the ships.

Camera I like.

Totally forgot about the debug camera over all this negativity!

More or less one of the most requested features since launch, but now, that it's added and people are finally able to see their shiny ships, they don't care anymore and just begin ing about ship prices...

I used the debug camera in beta 1.2.... for all of 10 seconds. So I can see what my ship looks like from the outside. WOW.
Sorry but could never understand why something so superficial to quality of gameplay got so much interest.

The reason why so many, myself included are complaining about ship prices is: why they should be adding more ships available to traders only.

I don't get it either...

It's not a matter of a "new" ship specifically, though sadly the new ships are ones that people tend to want. Especially when you factor in that some of us, myself included, are combat oriented... We want and need more combat oriented ships... Which is what we got.. But most can not afford which ruins our immersion and fun. I'm truly and honestly glad you're enjoying the new features and fixes. I, personally can't get into it when one of the 3 ships I actually want in the game is beyond any practical time frame in my chosen profession.

Seriously, cudos to everyone enjoying the patch.

The repair costs now make it more viable to do a little bounty hunting (RES) in my Asp. Now i just need to make sure i dont boost into an asteroid and total the ship!

Nice to have the temps displaying lower, my Clipper was cruising around at about 35% - the new segmented top end of the temp scale looks a bit ominous though.

Tone of the thread is a bit like "yes the house is currently on fire, but let's all enjoy the heat and the new carpets shall we?!"

Made me smile :p

Other than that, can't wait to try the updated features, especially the cheaper repairs, new USS's and RES spawns...when my replacement GFX card arrives and I finally tip over the credit level needed for an entry Python >.> So close, so very close now...
