If you are tired of manually counting your materials and compare it against buildable blueprints feel free to try Limpeteer.
Limpeteer parses your journal history files and keeps track of material, data, commodity in realtime. Finally it compares available materials against engineer's blueprints and shows what you can craft. If materials are missing it shows you where to get them.
The project source is available on GitHub as well as an MSI installer package. This only runs on Windows machines.
I also wrote a small wiki with a couple of screenshots.
