Community Event / Creation Release my comic with elite Dangerous?

This topic is aimed at the bosses or those in charge of game production.

When Frontier was released it came with the short stories, and other fictional extras. I would be honored if my Elite comic I have put together purely for the fans would be considered to be released as a bonus extra when the game is released. Here are some reasons why It would be a great idea...

1. It wouldn't mean you guys would have to do any extra work to think of bonus content to add

2. The members here have already given it very high praise, so my story has connected correctly with the people. Also on other elite fan sites I am told it is their most popular download, one site told me it had over 5000 downloads in one month

3. My comic is the only official Elite made comic anywhere.

4. Comics are now very popular among people more nowadays than they used to be. Look at the success of the walking dead, most who read are adults

5. It brings a more in depth story to the game.

6. You don't need to worry about copyrighting because... well you already own the copyright and I created this comic for everyone who loves elite at no cost or charge.

So what do you think?

(Forum members, here is where you back me up.)

There is a £4500 pledge option which will allow you to release your comic commercially as an official Frontier story. If you sold it for a pound and you got 5000 downloads again you'd make a profit.

I will certainly add my voice to yours. I loved every instalment of your comics and I think they would be a worthy addition to the kickstarter page

@ RGMarett

yes But I don't have the legal copyrights to do such a thing. If I went off to do that Frontier would sue the pants off of me, and as I stated when I made the comic, I didn't make it to make money, not only because of the copyright issues, but also because it was a labor of love for something I and many other people really enjoy, and sometimes the best things are free.

If you're talking about the Star Wars comic that Geraldine linked to last week so the newbs could enjoy it, then you have 100% of my support.

Only problem is it features Star Wars characters and I highly doubt FD would be able to get the rights from Disney to use it.

The £4500 pledge gives you the rights to sell your comic - Frontier won't even take any royalities. You could then genuinely call it 'official' too.

Sounds good, but I work as a freelance animator and video editor, nowadays I'm always up against fierce competition, & have to do part time work as a private investigator just to make sure the wife and kid has food and a roof over their head. I have never seen £4500 let alone have it to hand over in bulk something like that. The UK is the most expensive and hardest place to live and earn money, so unfortunatley I couldn't afford that much.

Loved your comic archemedies :) behind you 100%

Not sure if I can wait that long though.

@archamedes

I have never seen these before but thats just brilliant !!!
As seeing them for the first time and i bought the packaged game i would be well pleased that they were in the box :)

Archemedes' ELITE comic is nothing short of spectacular and would be a fantastic edition to any collection. I think it is a great idea.

I know that whatever Elite: Dangerous ends up being, fans will make box art and things like that and Archemedes' comics definitely has a place in my collection. It is fantastic, great story, COMPLETELY on the mark with authenticity AND something for everyone to enjoy. The artwork is fantastic !!!!

The ELITE comics are a labour of love and you can't "buy" that kind of enthusiasm.

This is typical of the wealth of talent that has always existed within the Elite community. Thats what makes these games so special,....the people who play them, mod them, make them anew and create works like this. The Elite community is and always will be special ;)

good stuff, archamedes :)

have you thought about your own Kickstarter page to raise the £4500 and submit them to Frontier? ;)

I had a look at Part One, and I really enjoyed it- it was very well done.

Maybe you could run a kickstarter to raise the 4.5 k necessary to pledge at the "write your own stuff" level. I'd be happy to chip in.
EDIT: Ooops, didn't see the post above... great minds huh?

Dude, you could get in touch with DB, and if things work out, start your own Kickstarter project.
Pretty sure half of the people that pledged money to E:D can afford 1£ more.
That way, you could afford the 4500£ pledge, AND give E:D more PR on Kickstarter...

Hi Archamedes,

This is an interesting idea and one I can definitely pass on for you, if you send me it in an email. I can't promise anything, but I'll forward it on for you if you want.

On another note, sorry to everyone in the Elite threads that I haven't had much time to moderate or read anything here the last week. I'm a bit snowed under with Coaster Crazy stuff, not to mention the influx of emails we've been getting since LostWinds went free! ;)
