I think you mean 2 years ago( since EDO was dropped) ? But you are correct Fdev have no interest in console players .Can't release something that doesn't exist. They would have to develop it first. In case you missed it all console development stopped a year ago.
Console Update
Greetings Commanders, Elite Dangerous is a game close to my heart. It’s no secret that Odyssey’s launch was less than ideal, including the need to split the PC/console player base to focus on a PC-only launch. Since Odyssey’s release in May 2021, we have worked tirelessly to improve the...forums.frontier.co.uk
That announcement was made about 16 months ago. "A year ago" is closer than "2 years ago"I think you mean 2 years ago( since EDO was dropped) ? But you are correct Fdev have no interest in console players .
Enjoy what we have as that's all we are going to get I'm afraid .
The official announcement of no console ever for EDO( 16 months ?) but console development was stopped just after EDO dropped because they needed many fixes and improvements to get EDO workable for the majority ( 2 years) .That announcement was made about 16 months ago. It really doesn't matter in the context of this thread. I was just trying to be funny. The official announcement of no console ever for EDO( 16 months ?) but console development was stopped just after EDO dropped because they needed many fixes and improvements to get EDO workable for the majority ( 2 years) .
Even if you take DR Kay leaving in sept 21 she said that they were still trying on consoles then which would be 3 days off 2 years ? Its just a matter of when you or I believe it stopped ( or if it really got going ) .
It depends on how much you trust Fdev ?

Feels like just yesterday all of us console goons were waiting with bated breath to play Odyssey. How young and naive we all were back in those days.So yea, it's:
- 2 years and 6 months since Alpha
- 2 years and 2 months since DBOBE's announcement of postponing the console release indefinitely
- 1 year and 6 months from the official announcement of console port cancelation.
I don't know if we consider bad development and bad management to be one and the same, but to me it's the management that takes all the blame. The actual guys with their noses buried in code have done as good of a job as they were able within the constraints set by management. I think given the opportunity the devs could/would work to release Odyssey on console, but they can only do what management says they can do. It's unfortunate for the CM's and Dev's that the managers making these decisions don't visit the forums and don't take the heat from players for their poor decisions. Pretty sure they're feeling some heat from their shareholders lately though (not necessarily with ED in particular, just their management decisions in general).ED is what bad development looks like. This game has been limping on for years now, and they got here by taking money from console players and then letting us know what our worth was.
Doesn't bother me now. I've got a game on console where I can walk around in my own ship, explore planets with atmos, and feel like a universe is inhabited.

Every MMO to date is doing the exact same thing. It's called business management, not poor development. The big difference is we don't have to pay a monthly subscription to continue playing. The game you payed for is still 100% playable. It wouldn't be if they didn't care.ED is what bad development looks like. It obviously does. Why waste your time here if that other (totally different) game is so much better?Doesn't bother me now. I've got a game on console where I can walk around in my own ship, explore planets with atmos, and feel like a universe is inhabited.
Very. How young and naive we all were back in those days.
The Xbox One could. Ah the old 'computers aren't as powerful as they used to be' argument. It's why games no longer have spilt-screen co-op.Very.
Consoles cannot handle even planetary rings (lower asteroid density)
So even with fact of more than 10 updates and much better performance- I still doubt in possibility of good performance on old consoles.
Unless you want controlled damage and abandoning "only" old gen.
Very.

Erm... no. No community goals, for example. No BGS shared with PC players. Tens of friend with no PC that quit the game for not being able to work side by side to conquer a system for their related faction. So you're basically wrong. They took all the money from Gamepass and XBOX or PS buyers and transferred to fill the Odyssey black hole of money, that is bigger than Sagittarius A, the biggest mistake Elite has. The Aliexpress copy of COD that destroyed the whole game with the lack of new content. Only new tharg interceptors and yearly no-one-cares-about-after-first-week thargoid related content. The clowny "foot combat" against thargoid ducks and new thargoid related grind materials for anything with no utility.eh?
you got what you payed for, and you can still play what you payed for
