Proposal Discussion Reloading (multi)cannons

Anyone else thinks this is an important missing feature ? It's a staple in just about every game involving guns.

Often, when I shoot down an enemy, I find myself with like 10-15 rounds left. While I align with my next target, I have to choose between waiting to have my target in sights before shooting it and then finding myself dry after a second, or essentially waste the rounds by shooting them aimlessly so that
the weapons has the time to reload before I'm ready to shoot my target.

The ability to reload in such a situation would be very welcome.

Reloading could either refill the missing rounds from your current magazine, or more realistically purge the remaining rounds and get the new magazine ready. I don't mind either way, but when I have a second to take a breath between two targets, I'd really like to be able to get my guns ready to fire.


I'm not keen on proposing new features so close to the game release, but this just feels like an obvious oversight which could be fixed with (I assume) a relatively small amount of work. I hope the devs will consider it if other players also find it a necessary feature.
 
Having weapons with magazines already doesn't make any sense. Any real weapon would be belt fed or load one round at a time. Either way the gun wouldn't have a "reload" as we would think of it.

I would personally prefer they switch to a non-reloading system with barrel heat (for the auto cannons) or the single shot reload time (for the cannons) being the limiting factor in fire rate.

If they stick with the current system then I would really like to see a reload button or at least a "dump my ammo and reload" button.
 
Reload makes sense, it's more the Ready Magazine vs the Storage Magazine, so a reload button to "reload the clip" makes sense.
 
Better yet, make magazine size an upgrade.

The trade off could just be price, mass or it could be one large magazine but with fewer overall rounds available. And on the subject, different types of ammunition and being able to switch between them would be awesome... but that's going a little too far off topic and would add an awful lot of complexity just for one weapon type, though I wouldn't mind the ability to attenuate my energy weapons for certain scenarios such as crippling or just firing for effect, and these systems could be combined. ;)

I agree with your points, and I like this suggestion because it adds an interesting choice (do I dump ammo to avoid reloading at an awkward time?).
 
I could have sworn that I have seen a reload button in Premium Beta, either with people streaming on Twitch or in the single player missions. It's not there anymore. Am I completely off here?

I think that would balance cannons quite nicely.
