Remember, we do not pre-order videogames

Normally I wait some 6-9 months or so after release to pick up games after a price reduction (I buy on steam and physical games for PS4 and Wii U), but with Elite I just payed for the lifetime pass :) Who cares about a few units of currency (select one) when you know you will play the game thousands of hours of years to come?

I pre-ordered the lifetime expansion pass when it was 35 pounds.

It was a gamble, but turned out to be more than worth it.

The risk Frontier Dev may face is now people know their upgrade model. People can just not bother buying horizons and wait till the next season and get more planetary landings and walking outside the ship all for the price of the 3rd season package (which will be probably £40)

Normally I don't preorder videogames either (especially after Total War: Rome 2), but this is for a subscription free game, with awesome core mechanics, flight-model, huge galaxy etc. Perfect? No, not by any means, but I really enjoy the game, and that's what matters to me.

If you don't want to support the developer that's entirely up to you... but then again you won't be able to enjoy the content when it comes out ;)

They could change the name from 'pre-order' to Kickstarter and everythings fine, like Sony did with Shenmue 3.

Everythings fine

I don't know about pre-, but I did get the expansion pass back then myself. And yes, it's come close to giving me my money's worth just with Horizons. NEXT paid expansion I'll be in the black on it. And I have mixed feelings about that. It saves me a lot of money, but that's money FD doesn't have to develop the game, and sometimes that bothers me.

Yeah, I was just pondering the same thing. I might buy the lifetime expansion again if possible through the shop so they have that much more to go with. I can afford, and these guys / this game def worth it.

Yes they can but then they have to wait to play it. It's like anything new. You can pay a premium and have the latest newest thing or you can wait for the price drop.

You invested early when they needed the money more and it was harder for them to get money. The value of an investment is money times risk. You gave them less money at a time when there was more risk. I just bought the lifetime pass yesterday. More money, less risk. I think we're about even.

If it bothers you that much, buy skins, or a second copy to a friend.
