Astronomy / Space Reminder Perseids meteor shower

sat out in the garden from 12:30am to 2:50am.
so far have seen 46 shooting stars, out of those 46,

One lasted bloody ages as it slowly moved across the sky just skimming the earth atmosphere while giving off bright flashes every now and then before it disappeared in one last burning flash of light.

one of the first ones I saw was the best as it must have made it deep into our atmosphere with a orange burning tail, you could actually see the debris burn up behind the core, only lasted about 3 seconds

also saw two orbiting satellites, and 5 planes.

so out of the 46 I would say I saw about 12 decent ones while most of the others where quick and short.

Meteor Shower

So who watched it?

We stayed up late (11pm is late for us) and saw a grand total of 6, Including me seeing one the night before by accident.

This lucky guy caught an exploding Perseid, complete with shockwave!
That was beautiful Cody. Also a little frightening too as I wonder if there is any really big rocks left in amongst the smaller ones.

Would love to see such a thing in ED in the occasional planetside setting at night just because it looks cool every once in a while.

And no worries Bikky ;)
