Remote flak launcher synthesize ax ammo?

What ammo does the remote flak launcher use?
I thought it just used regular ammo, but when I went to synthesize some ammo the option was for ax ammo.

The Flechette Launcher (Unlocked via Human Tech Brokers) is the "normal" (i.e non-AX) variant.
