Okay, it was a nice experiment (not really), we had to live with them for a while now, but it is clear it doesn't work.
I can live with the removal of some of the coloring of the cockpit, but for sake please remove those ugly cables!
They kill my favorite looking ship entirely because they're always right in my face and telling me to hate the ship I did love so much.

I think things like extra cables running around the cockpit are something that should maybe occur after using an Engineer to modify a ship. This would be a nice "living game" type cosmetic change and signal a clean vs. modified ship.
