Remove negative impact of Minor Faction Government types to fix Powerplay.

Most people (except FDev it seems) know that powerplay is foobar'd!
The main reason for this is that when people choose, or promote an in game minor faction they either foorget or don't know the effect it has on their major power.
Powerplay is another important and fascinating facet of this multi-faceted game, but sadly ot has long been the Cinderella of the play modes. Due in part to the lack of interest by those who prefer more excitement, or less stress. Sadly most of the stress comes from not being able to maintain a Power's ability to fortify a system due to the negative impact many player Minor Factions have created by taking control of a system in their power's control bubble only to discover that their government type is causing serious issues for the PP players in that region.

In the past players were able to request a change of government type to one more favourable but FDev now do not consider this to be desireable. They say it cannot be done but anybody who believes that is a fool. However I can see where it would possibly lead to seeing each major power having all of their systems with the same governement type in control of each.

My solution is simple. remove all negative effects of minor faction government types. Each type could still have a different value to make things more interesting so long as they are always positive.
An alternative approach could be to give Player Minor Factions always a positive effect with maximum value regardless of government type.

No.
There is government simulation for a reason.
This game is meant to be realistic.

Then why do Certain Powers Favour Faction types that conflict with their SuperPowers
Why is Hudson, the Federation President, strong with Patronages, when Federal Patronages do not exist?
Same for the Empire with Powers favouring factions Government types that dont exist in their super power

Does that seem realistic?

Why would the Federal President want systems controlled by NON Federal Factions?

If a system controlled by a Federal Democracy is in Hudsons sphere, it is better for Hudson to change that to a Patronage even an Imperial one, which makes no sense.
Hudson should still want Federal factions in charge and there is room for such internal conflict.

From here https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/help-me-find-all-the-government-descriptions.132071/

The Federation has the following faction types
Anarchy
Democracy
Corporate
Theocracy
Confederacy

With Two Federal Powers (though three Political Parties), ignoring the criminal Anarchy, we could have had each Federal Power favor two each of the Federal Factions
A Federal Power that favours Democracies and Confederacies (Winters?) vs a Federal Power that favours Corporate and Theocracies (Hudson?)

That could facilitate internal conflict over making Flipping Federal systems to either democracies or Confederacies to favour one faction, or to Corporations and Theocracies to favour the other whilst they stayed FEDERAL.

External conflict would also be facilitated by flipping systems to be Federal to weaken no Federal Powers.

Same with the Empire which has
Anarchy
Democracy (one off event/story line faction)
Corporation
Feudal
Dictatorship
Patronage
Prison Colony

So with Four Imperial Powers, Each could have had a faction type to favour, A Corporate Imperial Power (Torval?) , a Feudal Imperial Power (Duval), A Dictatorial (Military as this faction uses Military ranks for the contacts) Imperial Power (Patreus) and the Emperor as the Patronage Imperial Power as Livigny is the Patron supreme of all Imperial Citizens

In the Alliance we see
Anarchy
Democracy
Corporate
Communism
Feudal
Dictatorship
Theocracy
Cooperative
Patronage
Confederacy

So there Alliance could have had the Cooperatives as their point of difference for Factions?
Or there is room for two Alliance powers, one favoring the liberal factions and one the Authoritarian.

Each of the Independent Powers also seem to align to a Faction Type

Anarchy for Archon Delaine the Pirate King
Corporate for Li Yong-Rui of Siruis Gov a Subsidiary of Sirius Corporation
Communist for Pranav Antal of the Utopian Commune
Dictatorship for Yuri Grom the Dictator of Euryale

But anyway, the point of the OP stands

The Factions that the Powers are tied to dont fit the Lore of their Super Powers, nor their own Philosophies

Not really sure what you are getting at.
you can have two federal governments conflict easily.
they dont have to be allies because they are both federal types.

It's stupid and confusing, but it provides variety.

It isnt that the Federal Powers conflict but that Hudson, a Federal Power, favours Patronages, which are a faction type that is never Federal.
Why isnt Hudson strong with one subset of Federal Faction types and Winters Strong with the other subset of Federal Faction types

I have updated my first power to elaborate

I would prefer to have factions that are allied (ones that are in common) with powers in the area or nearby. Powers will get a bonus by having that faction in power. If there is a neutral faction in power there is no bonus and if there is an opposing faction, then there should be a negative. Missions from these allied facitons could give merits for their allied power.

Systems that have a superpower faction in shouldn't be able to be taken over by a rival superpower power. You should have to remove that faction first.

Factions should also have a rival faction. If you do a mission for a faction, you should get the same amount of negative rep for the rival faction that you get positive rep. Maybe some factions could be allied and when do a mission for one, you get some rep with the other.

I would also like to see some more effect from powerplay. For example any system that Archon Delaine has influence becomes an Anarchy, some of the others could increase security levels and so forth. Also get rid of the closed black markets with certain powers. There will always be a blackmarket if there are banned commodities.

The issue with the current system is that BGS players often find themselves opposed from taking control of a system by PP playes who are allied to the same Power.
This leads to the ridiculous situation where a PMF cannot be allowed to control their home system because it would prove too costly for PP.
This is often further excerbated by the PP players being forced to place a faction in control, that is an enemy of their own power, simply because they are a government type that is favourable.
Surely that has to be wrong!
