I don't have a definitive opinion on the other poll, just curious if the results will be similar. Should FDEV remove rebuy from the game? Every time you die you'll lose everything and start in a free Sidewinder.

why would anyone remove insurance?
I do think it could be improved however to make it more realistic - increasing premiums based on claims etc, tho that is covered by the lore as the PF pay for the premium we just pay the excess

Totally in favour of an iron man button however along with escape pods like in the original game.
with low mass, no weapons i could imagine them having a hell of a jump range.

I am deliberately going to ignore what i believe the intention of your post to be and take at face value

Gameplay wise you can't expect players aside from a small minorty to put up with it. Should there be an Ironman mode for people who want it? Sure!

tough I wonder about the rebuy thing, if its more expansive then 3D printing a ship, why not 3D printing it instead of buying a new one?

Given all the free sidewinders and insurance payouts, I'm surprised the Pilot's Federation hasn't filed for bankruptcy.

In the original you made the choice. Buy Insurance and an escape pod and you were OK. Chose not to, and death meant you lost everything.

The rebuy mechanic uses the same logic like instant ship transfers. Large parts of the community are against it.

PS

Iron man could be a solution for the other issue as well... And yes, it's a poll in disguise. But since I have no opinion and no agenda there isn't really an intention...

tough it brings me back to my Idea of illegal printed ship. Cheaper ships but no insurance, so lost upon destruction for good and you go back to the sidey. Its not like we need on or the other, we could have both :)

Ah yes, thread #8972 about insulting the other side of an argument instead of having an adult discussion and trying to find a solution.

I am not insulting anyone, as stated above, I have no opinion so there is no other side. Both parties have good arguments.

no because it is insurance...... i have been unfortunate enough to have a couple of fairly chunky accidents in my meat suit.... however i paid my excess and got a new vehicle (well money for a new vehicle).

now if your issue is with the instant teleport from ship destruction to base, then i have some sympathy with your view... i do not agree with it but i see your point.. but that was not your question. instead of trying to be sly/edgy just say what you mean.

so if your question had been "would you be in favour of a low weight very high jumprange escape pod rather than player teleport on destruction"............ you may have got an interesting discussion foir the point of a thought exercise... but obviously that aint gonna happen given what has transpired recently. it WILL always be instant.

Apparently not looking at the poll results.

Ehm, logic isnt decided by polls, mate. You're confusing logic with feelings. The whole 'immersion' thing is totally inconsistent, and its good to point that out. Removing rebuy actually would be hardcore, would place for more demands on the cmdr, require way more planning etc. The same arguments are used for 'delayed' transfers: its tactical gameplay, rewards thinking commanders, all that jazz. So why support 'delayed transfers' but not 'removed rebuy'? Because transfering ships is not deep, challening, tactical or any of that. Its mindless, simple, unchallenging. Its a time-sink that gives people the feeling of playing a hardcore game, without having to actually do so.

Tougher AI? NO!
More consequences on death? NO!
More risk for explorers? NO!
Staring at loading screens? YES, BRING US THE DEEP, HARDCORE AND CHALLENGING GAMEPLAY FOR PEOPLE WHO WANT TO THINK!

Whatever...

The PF 3d prints the noobwinders. That's why they have no resale value. Their groundbreaking 3d printing presses are at Eravate and LHS 3447 as trial markets.

Rebuy makes a player judge their actions before they take them. It is in my opinion one of the more important aspects of the game and if it was removed not only would there be more outcry than instant ship transfer, I believe you would also see most of the player base leave. So in my opinion, nope.
