Remove the refunds expenses!

What the heck is the refunds tab in the expenses?? It's contributing mainly to my park loss and it doesn't even say what is it actually. Please don't put redundant stuff if there's no explanation to it. It's spoiling the gameplay.
 
You have to pay refunds to the guests when theyre so annoysd/disappointed from your zoo, that they want their money back.

So there seems to be a problem in your zoo, that annoys ypur guests. Could be something in general or something specific. To less shops for a general example and for example for the specifics the education speakers in your zoo. When they are to loud and so cutting a circle of another speaker (so the circle color gets red) your guests get pretty annoyed from that.

So it seems like for most of the save files we were sent, there are overlapping educational speakers; this means that guests who walk into this overlapped area have a rapid drop in happiness - causing them to leave and want their money back.
Please check the Education heatmap, and if there's anything red in there: fix it!

Also, if you're running a bad zoo in general, that could cause a lot of unhappy guests too: not enough shops, too much litter, and expensive tickets; also, not having enough shops or having them all in one area only, and staff facilities being far away. Be sure to optimise your zoos in terms of placement: it's important!

We'll continue to look into other possibilities in the meantime :)

I read advises here and there, so i decided to spend hours fixing my Franchise zoo. I was at one point losing like $40,000 a year on refunds. It was madness!
So I installed 2 more security guards (now i have 3 in total) I put up alot of security cameras here and there. Provided a ton of bins and assign caretakers to specific zones. I also moved my staff area further away from the customers route. And fixed all my education speakers, make sure they don’t overlap.

Then guess what? 0 REFUNDS now! WOOHOO and it got my zoo to 5 stars.

Refunds should not kill your zoo, unless you neglected your visitors completely on many fronts:

1: Staff facilities to close to visitor roads.
2: Not assigning zones for your staff, so shops stay empty for a long time and areas are not cleaned often and fast.
3: Overlapping speakers.
4: Unhappy animals for different reasons.

Zoo entrance price can make visitors very demanding. I am on the edge all the time, so always a few visitors ask for a refund. But not enough to make me worried.
 
It should be explained in game what refunds entails. If I didn't read it here I'd have no idea, though I've had very few so it hasn't been an issue for me. I find the game lacks in details/explanations.
Yes thats true.

And although theres a tutorial in this game (career-mode), the game is not really beginner friendly. you need really to learn a lot by yourself by figuring out and trying and error. there really could be some more explanations.

Its also one of the biggest critics in reviews of planet zoo: So much freedom - but its pretty difficult for beginners.
 
I submitted a tracker issue on this, as I believe the happiness is buggy. You can see based on the screenshots I posted, all needs are in the green, all thoughts are positive yet their happiness is in the red, based on the evidence these guests should be happy as they have no negative thoughts at all and all of their needs are positive. https://issues.frontierstore.net/issue-detail/10306
