Removing Friends - Notification?

If I remove someone from my friends list, does the game notify them that I've done it?

I understand many will say "it doesn't matter", and that if I'm removing them I'm removing them - they will, after all, notice that I'm not on their list any more... Thing is, I honestly don't think they will, since their list - from what I understand - is pretty massive, and I'd rather just sort of vanish without stirring up any drama.

Can anyone give me a reasonably definitive answer on this, please?

It gives anotification, I can't remember the exact wording but it's something like, "Cmdr x has removed you from their friends list, this means they don't like you anymore but probably didn't have the guts to tell you, the sneaky toad. So yeah, how do you feel now?"

I was removed once and didn't get any kind of notification. He just dissapeared from my list. I was offline when he did so though...

Thanks for those replies.

And yes, Major Plonker, I do realise it's a sneaky thing to be doing, and yes, if I were not gutless I would certainly do it openly and deal with the inevitable fallout. That's doubtless the better thing to do than disappear quietly, without fuss, based on the probability that the person concerned would likely never notice that I'd done it.

Perhaps Frontier might consider that if the game has a friends list, then this aspect of the game is in effect a social network. Social networks in general do not send de-friend notifications - at least by default, though I'm aware that there are numerous addons and tricks that do let you see when people de-friend you. But the point is that these have to be addons and tricks because the networks themselves don't do it, and for fairly sound reasons: not least because the networks themselves don't know why you're doing it. As I said, I'm also aware that de-friended people may well work out what's happened when you don't show up on their list any more, but that's unavoidable.

TBH mate friends lists get purged now and then, I wouldn't dwell too much on it myself, I just assume that anyone I unfriend probably isn't going to spiral into depression because it. :)
