Rep Decay = Worse Idea Yet....

Lol well, after not playing for 6 days it seems as though I've lost allied status at many small factions as well as 2x major factions. What happened to the 20 days supposed timer and only for major factions?

Seriously, this 1.3 update has been a total joke. Bad, bad, bad. Aside from the lack of any new content (sorry but PP is not new content but simply a wrapper around existing mechanics) making the decision to take away hard earned progress with the rep decay has to be one of the worse ideas ever. Bad move FDev, bad move.

Strongly suggest FDev that you quickly remove this stupid rep decay mechanic and restore people's progress.

Yes, reputation decay is the worst idea this year IMHO.
Having them forgive bad reputation over time is ok, because its a game. But the current system is nothing more than a bad revenge to the backers who are angry (FD looses rep to the backers, then they loose their rep with the factions)...

There have been recent patches in the last 2 or 3 days fixing the problem with passive loss of rep in minor factions, which should not happen (and I'm guessing that is bringing the major faction rep down with them). Perhaps that was implemented after much of your rep had decayed, OP?

rep decay is necessary or in short order everyone has ....shocking.... maxed their rep in all factions that they can do so concurrently. That is the worst idea ever and it's good that it's finally getting addressed. Not having a decay system in place means the game quickly becomes the early adopters are maxed simply by virtue of being around long enough to do everything. That kind of game is lame and only serves to increasingly alienate new players. No.

If FD wanted to take revenge on Backers who tend to flame the forums they'd make another Xbox exclusive an anaconda paint job set and simultaneously remove Solo/Group mode switching for a given cmdr.

And another no to "decay things negative to me but positive stuff is forever".. nonsense. Stop this having your cake and eating it too crap.

I'll also add that by pledging to a Power, there is a good chance your rep with some minor factions will go down as you commit to more and more operations. The question is, though, can they forgive you once you come to your senses? ;)

Rep should decay from choices you make in the game and actions you perform. Not just because you went on holiday for a week with the kids!

I mean that's the biggest joke ever!

If I attack a federal convoy, decay my rep, if I do missions for a rival faction, decay my rep, if I pirate a ship and steal their cargo, decay my rep.....

If I go offline to go to work......or take the kids on holiday..... Or play a different more fun game... Or get run over and have to spend time in hospital..

DONT DECAY MY REP!!!!

My rep goes down when I sell goods to the minor faction I was allied with.

This pretty much. Sadly it shows off how bare the rep system is at it's core. Oh look the bars gone up oh look everyones green good for you, no consequences, no rewards hell no real shoutout to it really. Faction members won't go, oh hey thats that super cool merc we all love maybe he'll do this super weird and cool job little old me has lined up. I'll just contact him in SC and ask. No it mostly just seems to change a couple of percentages, a couple of bars and locks out missions to people who play nomadically.

Maybe the rep system should be random. Some days, the minor factions decide to completely hate you for no reason apart from the dictator or secretary general got out of the wrong side of bed that morning. :p

How many threads do we need on this subject?

Or,"Currently minor faction reputation will decay but to a capped level. There will be a change in the next update so that it doesn't however negative reputations will still restore slowly back to neutral.

Michael"

So rep will no longer decay from allied to friendly, but it will decay from hostile to neutral. If it isn't working correctly right now, then it's probably safe to say that the devs are still working to fix it.

Minor faction rep should not decay if very positive, but the intention was to have major faction (superpower) rep slightly neutralise at both extremes. I don't really see any problem in major rep being decayed that way. Eventually, you'll be allied to every minor faction in a superpower if you go around helping them. The major factions might then have no choice but to keep being Allied to you. ;)
