Repair drones

Add a new repair control module that can deploy drones to repair a ship. The drones can be directed to any ship - your own or someone else's.

If you direct drones to another ship they will have to drop their shield so a certain level of trust will be involved.

Great minds think alike. I just posted a similar thread earlier tonight (and I'm sure we aren't the first two to think of it either).
My thread: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=167588

I like the idea of having to drop the shields... it would make repairs performed in a combat zone more risky. Repairs should also not be immediate nor should they buff the damaged subsystem to 100% and should be ineffective in repairing hull damage. Subsystem repair only.

Indeed. Repairing a hull would involve a lot of raw materials so that makes sense - maybe a few percent representing a few welds but not more.

Having drones makes for a lot of potential uses like ferrying cargo for large ships to a landing pad (that they can't dock at) or to other ships.

Or transferring demolition charges to another ship's hull.

Or planting a beacon on some resource in deep space so you can find it again. Or planting a beacon on another ship so you can track them - only removable at high tech stations.

Or sending a camera to investigate something with a private video feed back to you.

Fuel drones carry your fuel from you to your target right? Similarly, repair drones should carry your AFMU ammunition over to your target (and use it to repair the module).
.
Remember modules have to be off to be repaired.
