Since CQC is completely separate from the main game, many of us have asked it be removed from as a rank from the side panel. However, I'd like to take this a step further and suggest a new rank to replace it - Humanitarian.
Feel free to use a different word, as this is the first that comes to mind. I'm picturing the ED equivalent to a firefighter or paramedic. Here are some ways one could rank up:
* Retrieving escape pods and other S&R items
* Evacuating civilians from damaged stations and megaships
* Performing humanitarian missions like bringing food to worlds in famine state
* Using fuel limpets, repair limpets, and healing beams on ships in need (go Fuel Rats!)
I often do these things because it "feels good" (I'll bring repair limpets to a HAZRES to fix NPC mining ships, LOL), but I think it would be cool to recognize this with an official rank. And let's face it - CQC is just combat in a different coat. A Humanitarian Rank would be totally unique to the Combat, Trade, and Exploration ranks (though some gameplay would obviously overlap).
As always, I thank whoever at Frontier reads these suggestions and takes them to [heart]
