Doing that will fix everything from the galaxy map to the right hand panel settings, allowing them to default to whatever you last set them to when you log out, instead of what they defaulted to before 1.3.

ThanksBut I'm not tinkering with my PC or the game files. That's a job for FDEV.
Well it's not as much tinkering as just deleting a couple of files and letting them regenerate, however I agree with you lol, this stuff shouldn't be broken.
It keep defaulting to ON with me.
Kind of annoying, I don't want those pesky cops showing up when I'm carrying some "medicinal" cargo.

Same here.
Go to "C:\Users\YourWindowsUsername\AppData\Local\Frontier Developments\Elite Dangerous\Options\Player" and delete the "Custom.misc" file.
FD seem to have changed the name of this settings file from 1.2 to 1.3 and the old file overrides the new one, preventing player options from saving correctly.

Id rather not. Im here to play not fix stuff FDEV gets wrongs. But Sincere thanks for the work around.
Ben - that truly is a harmless workaround. One that even FD have suggested previously when the game gets "stuck" on a setting. The game will automatically reinstall a fresh version of the file upon start-up. This isn't modding or coding in any way. It'll take you a minute and "fix" your problem. Promise!
Had problems with my galaxy maps' settings too and this fixed it for good. Clicking a few times in the explorer is a lot easier than wait weeks for them to tinker with your PC.
I'm sure it's very easy but I have messed simple stuff up in the past. I even manged to spill tea in my lap once while performing the simple task of lifting a cup to my lips! I'll leave it for now and hope some one else fixes it at FDEV. If it's as simple as it looke, I'm sure it will be fixed i the next release which I can wait for

My wife has a habit if dropping stuff for no particular reason. We'll be standing at the kitchen counter,having a discussion over a nice cup of tea, and without warning she'll simply let go of the cup. She's done this randomly throughout her life. It's both an annoying, amusing and endearing quality - all at the same time!
