Report on initial experience

Overall fantastic. No network, navigating, docking issues what so ever. This first run was a very clean, smooth run. Great job, guys.

- Upon entering the Galaxy map, SOMETIMES the mouse pointer would not display anything while hovering over systems or clicking on them. This was easily corrected by selecting one or any of the option/filter tabs in the left info pane. Very slight bug.

- The left side info/options window in the Galaxy map does not fit fully on the screen, where the left margin is blocked from view by the edge of the screen. Running 1650x1080; 60mhz; V-sync on; gforce 470; trackir 4

- Trying to engage silent running, it would set, but then immediately revert back to full power on its own. I don't know if this is a bug, or perhaps because I had no heat sinks to eject and that this is a safeguard of the ship. I know from learning the hard way that in alpha 1.1, I could run silent after seemingly running out of heatsinks and fry myself to a crisp. Although I'm a little foggy on heatsink useage... like if you have to load them before hand, or if they automatically come with the sidewinder. Could of been that I had heatsinks and just didn't know it, and it's a bug.

- I got a report of pulse laser malfunction while engaging a Federal Security ship outside Azban that had a wanted tag. Instead of not firing, or only firing intermittently, it decided to fire on its own in short bursts. (it was a pretty good shot too :D ) Again, not sure if a bug or if this is something a malfunction can actually cause.

Bravo to the devs for this fantastic sim!!! Just felt that as a backer and tester, it was my duty to report stuff like this.

Hi,

The silent running defaults to press and hold now, as does the non FA mode. You can set it to toggle if you prefer it like it was in the Alpha 1.1.

I just experienced something extremely frustrating... even though I was having an absolute blast at the same time. I was flying in the extraction zone trying my hand at bounty hunting. It seemed that just about every ship I engaged, right when I was about to blow them to kingdom come, would simply disapear into thin air.

I'm left wondering if other ships were killing them and getting the credit (there was alot of fire being hurled around out there) - but there certainly weren't any explosions; or maybe they were jumping out... but it was uncanny how it happened with most all of them and right before they would blow up. I'm a little insensed at this, tempered to some degree by the amount of fun I was having.

This happened with all except 2 cobras for which I got the bounty (though a subsequent crash removed every credit and left only 1 kill on my record. Oh, the injustice of it all! Actually I'm okay with the crash thing... it is, after all, a beta, but disapearing enemies, taking my kill tally and credits with them prior to any crash is no good.

Anybody else experience this madness?

One awesome thing was watching how some of the better pilots would crest suicidally close to astroids playing cat and mouse with me. Truly awesome to behold... and something I've never seen in another space sim. One maneuvered me into becoming a smoldering wreck upon one of those astroids :D

This has been happening since Alpha 4, I've already sent FD a ticket about it.

They do it to me too. It's because we have a terrible buildout and they can get away before we do enough hull damage. I would suggest investigating that Federal distress signal.

Good luck,
