As the title said, spent a few minutes writing this up a couple of hours ago and wondered why it didnt show up.... grr
So.. mission bonuses....
1) - "Critical Mission Update Recieved" - I keep getting mission updates offering me major bonuses if i deliver within a new timeframe (Cool) BUT
The time limit for the bonus has been a maximum of 2 minutes (if ive just jumped into a star system) and is almost always at a target that is far longer than that away UNLESS...
It updates the mission when ive just reached a target installation and im getting ready to dock... in which case i always get a maximum of (i would presume) its around 30 seconds (the timer shows 0m0s)
This is often in the midst of some pretty hefty lag which adds time to whatever youre doing. Not cool.
If im going to be annoyed with mission critical updates for bonuses that cannot possibly fulfilled, can we please make it so that we can switch them off entirely. Its just plain frustrating.
2) - "Critical Mission Update Recieved" - No mission update recieved for certain cargo missions until you are _skids down on the deck at the target system_ im literally docking and then being told the mission has been moved from where im landing, to in some cases some 20-30 light years away, well out of the way of where im headed, and for no extra bonus.... im not sure if youre trying to simulate pain in the butt up themselves customers, but its not fun, if youre going to do it, then the pay for the job needs to increase or you drop it then and there, get paid the agreed amount, and then its their issue. In my case (at least twice now) its resulted in screwing around a whole run of missions... this was fun maybe once or twice.... but it soon comes to screaming 'go suck a bag of d*cks' at a computer screen, abandoning the mission, and selling the now 'stolen' (they werent. i dont want them, i dont want to sell them for personal profit) cargo to cover a ridiculous fine.... provided you get the fine instantly while still in the system... i now have to travel a good 100ly backwards to pay one.
Dont do this. Give an option to tell the customer to suck it and sort it yourself rather than pain in the butt major detours to recieve only what you agreed to be paid for.
3) - Assassination missions - The clues are often well hidden outside of any messages or communication you get, and are hit and miss. Ive had marks not show up at a system at all (known bug apparently) to searching everything ive ever had hinted at me in other missions.... only to find the mark randomly flying past me with a couple of minutes of mission time remaining, no warning they are in the system (and warning you do get dont give you anything in the way of an update or further clue, just 'mission critical something something' which is a hint to keep flying around at random until youre pointed in the right direction for a blue mark to show up in your contacts/nav list) and then getting a 'hurry up' warning as you randomly speed past their low energy wake.
For bonus gripes - attacking the target and ending up wanted because security forces were far too close and copped collateral damage. Any progress you make in fighter ranks is nixed by getting killed yourself, and the mission payment is only enough to re-buy your own ship. You can have a laugh and say im just crap at dogfighting but it is what it is, and im not the only one with the complaint apparently.
4) - Interdicion - Theres post after post on this one. And ive got the same problem. Its random, (im not wanted, high ranked enough to be a serious target) and ive been jumped with or without cargo last time, i had already been jumped once and was on 8% damage remaining. No choice but to wiggle about and . this isnt fun and there was zero profit for whoever did it (npc). Fighting/not fighting the interdiction makes no difference. Whether i manage to actually get on the utterly random bobbing about vector or not, whether i shut down first, or whatever, it results in damage and no chance to jump straight out again. fix it or lose it. its another 'why am i doing this again' type mechanic.
Interestingly.... the one time i DID manage to evade interdiction... was by doing absolutely nothing. Repeating this trick didnt work.... i dont recall if i got the blue bar to maximum somehow... all i know is i was already p*ssed off so i did nothing and won.
And a request - I may be missing an option im not sure... but can we have something added so that a left thumb click on a gamepad toggles between roll/yaw/combined i find i only ever need one or the other at the same time. A painfully slow but intentionally careful but utterly ruined rotation to do... whatever.... is a pain in the butt and has also resulted in swearing at the pc.
Cheers.
