Newcomer / Intro Reputation and Influence

When performing missions, you get a choice of reward - money, special items, reputation, influence.

My questions are, what is the difference between Reputation and Influence, and which has the most effect on gaining suerpower promotions? I am trying to obtain various system permits like Sirius and Sol. So is Influence or Reputation better for this?

Thanks all.

I always go rep for ranking up with feds, imperial or individual system factions. I've not seen what influence does for me so someone may post back about that.

Influence is how much the mission helps that faction in that system. It has nothing to do with how much they like you, thats Reputation. So Rep is the one you are interested in.

Reputation affects only the CMDR and adds to SuperPower Rank if applicable.

Influence only boosts the local Faction's Influence within the System (BGS) under the proper circumstances.

Thus, Rep is what's needed if SuperPower Ranks are desired.

(ninja'd :D )

As a group i am in we at war with a NPC faction and seem to be loosing the war what things do we need to do in order of us winning this war.

I cant seem to find any thing solid on it some say handing in kill bonds some say running missions some say trade.

So what is it we do the combat zones and hand in bonds but so far 3 days we have lost to the NPC faction any one know a good place for solid information no this matter ???

It's a threadjack but, winning cz, handing in bonds, handing in bounties and combat missions should help.
However, there are bugs where doing a lot of work has a negative effect. There is a subforum about the bgs in the 'Features' area
