Reputation issues

Hey all,

So i have been running a lot of work in Fed space, doing missions and also just tapping a few bounties here and there and any high value contraband i can find. Currently in a well equipped Cobra. Seems though that i haven't been paying enough attention to the missions results and actions.

What i mean is i have permits for Sol as well as another key Fed system (can't remember name), and am rank of Petty Officer, but i am now rated as hostile to Federation.

So if i cant actually dock with any Federation stations, what would be the best way for me now to raise my Fed reputation back up to unfriendly and so on? Any good ideas?

I was in the same situation with the Empire, it was because I got scanned in empire space with military plans twice, and that was when there was the bug that caused every ton of plans to make your rep go down, so it went down allot. What I found was, that Empire stations let me dock, but security vessels would shoot at me. I just had to take their fire and dock. Depending on your vessel, this may be easier said than done. I was in a Python which had class 6 shields. In a Cobra I would make your first attempt with shield cells and make sure you have boost ready to get out of there if the station was to fire at you. Ive been hostile to a faction and still not had a station fire at me, but it was in Empire space, Fed space behaviour may be different, and I was anxious of this happening on my first approach.

Once docked I found that the philanthropy missions (giving food or weapons for free) gave me the most positive rep. If the stations main faction is Fed alligned your overall Fed reputation will increase also. I'm now neutral with the empire after doing allot of trading etc in empire space, but Philaphropy missions got me from Hostile to unfriendly quickly, if I remember right it was 5 missions, and that got me unfriendly with that station, not with the empire itself, but meant it was easier going there and back from there on to remediate further, as security vessels no longer attack on sight.

I was Hostile with the Feds for a while due to being scanned with salvaged stolen goods from USSs.

Basically you can still dock at Fed Stations but all security vessels will fire on you immediately upon spawning. The station will still accept your docking requests and will not shoot you thankfully! However you are going to be constantly running the blockade so you need a decent ship and the skills to dock and take off fairly quickly. My Type-6 was routinely badly mangled but a Cobra with shields and engines powered will be fine. It was also amusing to watch the Feds shoot missiles into the station, presumably causing wanton destruction!

You will need to take missions with Fed factions - however I found even after a dozen courier missions for Federal Congress in Sol it made little difference. What did was taking on the 180K destroy elite anaconda missions. 1-3 of these should move a Faction's ranking from hostile to unfriendly, making you able to dock at their stations. Several of these will then make your Fed rep Unfriendly. That's how I got my rating back up.

You might need to buff up your ship or recruit some fellow players to help you with these missions to begin with.

Thankyou friend, will try what you say. I believe i actually had military plans in my hold when i was scanned also, so appears the bug is still live. I was confused how i was made hostile so suddenly. That explains it.

Failing this i will just defect to the Empire, even though i owe them 70k in bounty its my omly real option right now and i refuse to restart.

Again thanks for the advice will try the tail humping anacondas with shield cells see how i get on.

I got nothin' to add, just cracking up at CMDR Reza's user pic - Han Solo - as he's trying to weasel his way back into the good graces of the local muscle.

"Look, Fed, I was just on my way to pay you back, but I got a little sidetracked. It's not my fault..."

:) Killed a few Greedo's on the way too, which is actually what has pushed me finally into the unfriendly threshold. Phew.

Lol, hey well its worked now so thanks again all! Did some delivery missions, just standard ones, for Fed allied factions, "we need this material and will pay this much" etc. Got it back to unfriendly, so am almost at Sol to weasel back in some more with the Feds. For anyone else in this predicament, killing wanted dudes in Fed or Fed allied faction space worked as well. Best tip was that you can still land at hostile stations to pick up missions. Also, you can get your relationship with a fed allied faction up quicker than Fed in general, so if you keep doing missions in the same area it becomes less hostile allowing you to get more missions and easier access.
