Reputation problem

All I want is hunting pirates and earn positive reputation to get permit and all I get is hostile reputation with feds and I don't know how, looks like reputation is pretty bugged, I hunt pirates and cops helping them against me, how can I increase my reputation now? or is it faster to start the game again? but I have already a cobra, but shoddy weapons and no money, cant even repair myself.

Same here

I'd be interested in finding an answer to this too.
I jump out at an Unidentified Signal Source, scan any targets to check they're 'Wanted' and blow them away.
I get the bounties, I'm not marked as criminal for anything (i.e. no fines/illegal cargo etc.) but the Feds turn up, and start attacking. I flee rather than fight back so I don't get even worse rep but I'm now 'Unfriendly' to the Federation and struggling to get jobs on the bulletin board for them.
Bugged or are we doing something wrong :/

More complex reputation

I have played enough now to understand that simply shooting "wanted" craft will get you a bad reputation - it is more complex than that and you need to know which faction a "wanted" craft belongs to before you shoot it.

That said, is there a recommended path to restoring your reputation. I have done the trading of charts and black market good to "impress" but I seem to be getting nowhere fast.

Regards,

I have heard that doing charity missions will boost your reputation quickly. I did some on Founders World for the Pilot's Federation and was rewarded with a "friendly" status (I did quite a few cargo runs as well.) By charity missions I mean the ones where you give away food and goods for free / reputation gain.

Umm.. no. Shooting wanted crafts gets your rep up. Go out and shoot a few, go back to station and see did you get a red down arrow or green up arrow under the faction youre in.. ;)

It took me 25 'reputation gain' missions to get up to Neutral from Unfriendly: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=87272

Thanks guys for the information I will try a few dozen charity runs :)

@Henkka77 - I think you may be missing the point but if it works for you then by all means carry on and enjoy your gaming. After all we are all here to enjoy ourselves.
