Reputation reward option -> faster fed/Imp navy ranks grind?

Hello!

Has anyone checked if picking the reputation reward option when handing in quests gives more navy rank progression points than the regular rewards?
I did so once and it would seem to be the case. When I did a data transport mission and picked a cash reward, I got 3% ahead in the fed naval rank (Chief Petty Officer 90% -> 93%). When I handed in the same kind of mission but picked reputation as a reward, it went from 93% to 100%. I'm not saying that this is evidence enough, but it would suggest that picking that option makes it faster to get ranks with navies.

has anyone made the same observation as me and could confirm this? Or can anyone disprove this theory as some sort a coincidence?

I'm interested in this as well. Friend and I was debating this just earlier today and I tried looking it up but all I found was people going on and on about the link between reputation (as in allied, friendly, etc.) and getting navy/etc. rankup missions.

I did donation missions for the same faction and the 1Million Cr one seemed to give more rep towards the empire than the 250K one... before the patch. Now, I haven't checked yet (at work atm so can't play).
Also, if the answer is yes and more reputation from a mission gives more reputation towards faction standing as well, is that the case if you maxed out the small faction as well? Or just like you can't gain more rep to a maxed out smaller faction, you won't get the rep rewards towards your superpower either? Or...

Anyways, I would like an answer too.

(https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php/411469-Empire-Rank?p=6472953&viewfull=1#post6472953 seems to talk about the same thing so I guess it's an answer.)

The rep reward does indeed provide a lot more rep points. It seems like rep in general has gone up though. Currently grinding out fed rep and in 2.4 at Lieutenant I was lucky to get 1% for a boom mission. The last few days I've noticed I've been getting 2-3% for the same missions. It also seems like they matched up the faction adjustments a lot better than in 2.4 - the mission reward texts are clearly indicating factions and powers that are getting moved.

I should also point out that it works in both directions - I've been getting a lot of instances where I'd turn in the mission and get the faction status chain message notification. When I go to look at it I notice there's actually TWO notifications - one faction went up and another went DOWN. Kind of interesting honestly.

I cleared my savegame before 3.0 came out, so I'm happy to say that YES it does.

A single Rep+++ made me jump 5% in reputation at Baron.

*EDIT* As part of a YouTube channel cleanup, I deleted a video I had linked here - No point in leaving anyone hanging with a dead link. ;)

Is it not....

Rep For Factions ??
Influence: For Naval Progression ??

I am not suggesting it is, just my take on this?

No. Reputation is reputation, for both. Influence is for BGS changes, to make the minor faction have more influence.

In short, for ranking up in one of the Navies, you want Rep++++++++++ :)

It's quite a nice new feature, that you can forego the credits to get more rep.

There is Reputation (Empire/Federation) and Influence (Factions). If you accept the reward offering bonus Reputation+++++ for example then yes, your Fed/Emp rank will increase. I used to great effect over the weekend to rank from None->Corvette in a portion of the time it used to take.

Yes, taking the rep reward option means faster progress, less money. Which I like to see.

Now, shush about it before the anti fun crew want that nerfed, too... ;)

Haha!!

I've noticed a big bump in navel ranks since 3.0, I was at Chief Petty Officer after about three months of normal non rank grinding gameplay. I've jumped up five and half ranks since 3.0 again not really trying to grind ranks just doing normal missions and choosing REP+++ for Boom delivery rewards.
I'm a big fan of the new mission reward system. :)
