My reputation with the Federation was 93% three days ago but has gone down by 1% on a daily basis now 90%.
I have been doing missions from Sothis only and doing the donations when they show up.
My rank and trade rank are slowly rising.
Any ideas.

It will go as low as 75% (Friendly) then it will just sit there.
I finished ranking up with the feds a while ago, now doing the last bit of Prince rank with the Empire.
It does decay about 1% each day of not doing anything for a particular superpower.
Not too pleased with this setup, but it's not the end of the world in my books.

Reputation with minor and major factions slowly goes towards neutral when you don't do anything for those factions. It stabilizes somewhere around Friendly (or unfriendly when going up from Hostile).

You should see a Fed reputation rise when you donate to or do missions for a Fed faction, I think there is one in Sothis. But helping the the neutral factions there won't do anything for your Federation reputation.

It is unfortunate that reputation decay happens in real-time and not in-game-time, as it disenfranchises players who can only participate at weekends (say) to that aspect of the game.

right for major factions/superpower, wrong for minor factions. superpower rep decays from allied to friendly where they stop (at 75℅)

minor faction positive rep does not decay.

both (minor and superpower) decay from hostile to unfriendly.
