Request: Cargo Transfer Formation

Two CMDRs should be able to target each other and initiate a "cargo transfer mode" that requires you both to consent, and then maintain a belly-to-belly formation for a short period to establish a "lock" with the other player.

While in formation, any jettisoned cargo should be ejected directly into the other ships cargo hold, making it very efficient to exchange items.

There would need to be a UI similar to the planetary landing bar to help the ships line up.

I get what your saying, two ships should be able to "dock" with each other, and then if you look at the role (crotch) panel, you could use the same screen that the SRV uses to transfer cargo from SRV to SHIP.

Instead, your cargohold is on the left, the other guy is on the right.

you select which cargo you want to offer, which highlights it yellow/gold, they highlight their cargo (if any), which you can see as yellow/gold.

You hit 'Confirm trade' which lights up a green light on your side, they hit "confirm trade" on their side. and the COVAS says "Cargo Transfer Initiated." and the cargo moves with accompaning sound effects.

You un dock from each other and go on your way.

Unlikely. FDev have always been fairly quick to respond with "No!" in relation to player trading which seems a bit of a wasted opportunity considering so many other games have had it for ages.

There's a slim chance a battalion of code monkeys are already laying the fertilizer for a fully manured, I mean matured P2P trading system to be released at a later date, and thus not discussed now on pain of death...

Should be something that could be bolted on as a complete module...

Maybe Braben-Clause will surprise us this year :p

This idea sounds...kinda dirty, actually. Like you'd only do it behind an asteroid or something.

I think we need to keep as is. It annoys Gold sellers. Right now it takes some time. Dropping cargo and the other person using Cargo scoop or Collector.

We don't want an I win button for Gold sellers.

Yeah but if someone's discovered as a gold seller, Fdev has a great tool at their disposal to shut them down.

Just assign a big bounty to the jackass and let the playerbase show him what we think of him.

Or better yet, code in an indestructible thargoid ship that follows him around everywhere he goes, gunning him down relentlessly and ignoring all other players or targets.

Or just lock him to solo mode and disable any BGS effects his play might have.

Seriously. Videogame devs need to start getting MEAN with the gold selling pukes. Punks ruin the game and steal identities; they should be punished with extreme prejudice.
