Request for clarification concerning galmap and system states...

No worries :) you now have Civil state (happy vs unrest), Military state (none vs war) and economic state (boom vs bust). Outbreak and famine are civil state I think, and the other niche states fit into that model. I've been trying to gather data, but it's very random, VERY random.

So when an HGE is spawned, it could belong to any faction, but it could also belong to any state of that factoin (or at least, that's what I'm trying to determine in this thread, if the HGE will be tied to a higher priority state, either economic, civil or military, or maybe a specific state such as outbreak takes priority, I know it doesn't, just saying, maybe other states are 'stronger'). I've definitely had HGEs in EZ Aquarii from the same factoin, using their economic state at the time (none) and also their military state (war), and the materials inside also seem to be randomly chosen (none state mats in war state HGEs, but not vice versa, yet, which is interesting on its own). Most factoins and systems are still in a state of none across the board (thanks to the BGS reset) and the second and third states only actually come into play when they happen (naturally, cos no state is 'none').

P.S. If you're looking for a new squadron and you're sick of simpering silver spoon imps, give me a shout, consider that an invite, I like the way you think, diagnostically. :)

Not quite.
Your economic state goes from famine to bust to boom to investment

Security state goes from civil unrest to civil liberty (might be more on that scale like lockdown)

Then there are the 'non slider states' which are triggered:

War, election, civil war, famine, outbreak, pirate attack, incursion

Any faction will be in 2, one economic, one security and optionally in a 3rd if triggered.

Thanks very much for the insight. So, Its only three states under certain circumstances. How many triggered states can a faction have simultaneously? Only the 1 and that precludes the others for its duration? Thanks again.

We have only seen a single triggered state in addition to the economic and security ones which are always present (even if they are explicitly just at 'none').... we are watching it closely though.

Pirate Attack can certainly coexist with Election or War (one example in Tir right now)

Retreat and Expansion can coexist with Election or War (though Expansion is a special case anyway, of course) and with each other.

War, Election and Civil War can't coexist by their nature, of course.

I've not seen a faction in more than three states at once, but there are other plausible reasons for that to have occurred up to this point in the Colonia region - there doesn't seem to be an intrinsic reason you couldn't have more than three *unless* there's a specific rule to prevent it.

To follow up on this, today's tick has produced the first observed four-state factions: Investment + Civil Liberty + Pirate Attack + Expansion.
Whether this is because Expansion, as a global state, isn't part of a three state limit ... too early to say.

Yo FD, can we get a new BGS manual please?

Expansion and investment MUST be an economic state, no?

That reminds, me, does anyone know the answer to the question why almost all the controlling factions in the core systems went into immediate expansion a bout 3 weeks ago, and why none of them have been able to expand (noted because they then went into investment), when there are loads of systems all around that had spaces, and then of course, why did they go into investment (and most still are)...? Small issue, but I'm just wondering if this was ever explained...
