REQUEST FOR Q-SHIP MODULE

I'd like to propose a 'Q-Ship Module' . This module when fited makes your ship appear One/Two/Three ( depending on the class of the module ) sizes bigger/smaller than you're current ship while in SC. There would be no change to a visual inspection. A Python could be made to look like a lonely T-6, or a Vulture like a T-7 while in SC. You could even outfit your T-9 and appear as a Cobra/Asp.
.
Benefits would include making piracy a bit more challenging, as well as bounty hunting. You could safely approach a target in your 'Sidewinder', or ward off potential evil-doers with your 'Anaconda'. Downsides might be that your phony anaconda might get jumped by a wing of pirates instead of just one.

I believe the answer is the annaconda, It is the best trading ship in the game and can hold it's own quite easily in a fight.

No, you're missing the point. See: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Q-ship
.
The key is deception; not simply being strong at trading. The deceptive element is the strength of the prey the hunter thinks it's got. Once it exits SC and sees what it's up against ... that's when the fun begins.
.
I have LONG thought about this too- how awesome would that be.

I don't think a universal "make all scanners lie to the players" module would accomplish anything other than commanders who don't care about piracy or bounty hunting. Making Scanners useless just doesn't make any sense. I see no circumstance in which this could be fun, or helpful, to anyone, except a murderer. It is an original and unique thought however, which I am all for. "Outside the box" suggestions like these are good for the game, so keep throwing them out there!

Well considering most pirates check their targets module list in supercruise simply add the lightest and cheapest weapons you can to make it look like you are armed.

Something like this:

Obviously turn weapons, cell banks, interdictor etc to power off since they are for show not for combat. I mean who in their right mind would target that ship to pirate especially since the module screen does not show class/size of modules or cargo racks.
To anyone who didn't know you'd look like a heavily armed and armoured bounty hunter.

Same can be done for Python, ASP, Clipper and Cobra although people may still interdict a Cobra

I don't know, I use to play Sword of the stars 1 and 2 and Q ships had nothing to do with cloaking a ships true identity for the purpose of deceiving pirates, In sots 1 and 2, Q-Ship meant a Trading ship that is a freaking hard unit to kill because it is also armed to the teeth.

However, Fair enough, I stand corrected.

How about this idea, Instead of cloaking what ship you are, How about implementing a "Module Cloaking field"

Basically, the module prevents other ships scanners from knowing what *weaponry* you're packing, This way pirates have a risk of "finding out the hard way" of what defensive measures you have.

Either way, Piracy is kind of non-existant and those that do interdict you from supercruise plan to kill you rather than waste time, money and effort to steal your cargo, because lets face it - You loose money buying hatch breaker limpets and repair costs than making a profit on stolen cargo.
